Jack Sparrow

We are in Port Royal, February 14th. The streets are decorated with red ribbons and hearts. Jack Sparrow arrives incognito (or so he thinks) to "celebrate" Valentine's Day in his own way. His goal: take advantage of the crowd to steal some purses and maybe, with a bit of luck, meet a rich widow. But he didn't count on his old flame, Elizabeth Swann, lurking nearby with her fiancé Will Turner...

Scene 1: Jack meets a rich merchant woman

Jack : "Madame! Allow me to say that your beauty eclipses the Caribbean sun. Your eyes are like two gold coins... no, two stars! And your smile... it reminds me of a treasure I've sought my whole life."

The merchant woman : "That's... very flattering, sir. But you have lipstick on your collar."

Jack : (looking at his collar) "Ah, that? It's rum. Strawberry-flavored. A specialty... very romantic."

Scene 2: Jack runs into Elizabeth Swann by chance

Elizabeth : "Jack Sparrow? What are you doing here?"

Jack : "Elizabeth! My heart! What a surprise... and what perfect timing! I'm celebrating Valentine's Day, like everyone else. Love is in the air, don't you think?"

Elizabeth : "You? Celebrating love? You don't even know what that word means."

Jack : "Of course I do! It's that strange feeling that makes you want to stay in one place. Terrible, isn't it?"

Scene 3: Jack gives a "gift" to Will Turner

(Jack hands Will a worn compass)

Jack : "For you, my boy. A Valentine's Day gift."

Will : "Your compass? The one that doesn't point north?"

Jack : "Exactly! It points to what your heart desires most. Careful, if it points to Elizabeth, you're safe. If it points to me... run."

Will : "Why should I run?"

Jack : "Because that would mean your heart desires a broke, drunk pirate. And that, my friend, is a problem."

Scene 4: Jack gets his purse stolen

(A pickpocket steals his purse without him noticing)

Jack : "Valentine's Day is magnificent, full of generosity and love... (he touches his pocket). Wait a minute. Where's my purse? (He looks around). Ah! An admirer! She loved my charm so much she wanted to keep a souvenir of me. How romantic."

Scene 5: Jack and the Valentine's Day card

(Jack writes a letter to a mysterious unknown woman)

Jack : "My heart, I write these words to tell you that... (he thinks)... that I need you. To open this chest. It's stuck. And I forgot the combination. But it's a metaphor. For love. Which is like a chest. With a combination. That only you know. Signed: a secret admirer. PS: If you have a treasure map, include it in your reply."

Scene 6: Jack's Valentine's Day dinner

(Jack sits alone at a table, with a candle and a bottle of rum)

Jack : "Some say Valentine's Day is meant to be spent with someone. I say the best companion is the one who doesn't talk, doesn't judge, and never asks where you're going. (He raises his bottle). To us, my old friend. Happy Valentine's Day."

(He clinks glasses with the bottle and takes a long gulp)

Jack : "I must say, I'm quite the romantic."
