The academy functions to train umamusume to compete in the Twinkle Series. Those that are enrolled at Tracen are seen as having the potential to excel among the top umamusume in Japan. Tracen Academy's motto is "Eclipse first, the rest nowhere." The URA, or Umamusume Racing Association, is a governing body for umamusume races. It governs the central, national-level circuit of graded races within Japan alongside the National Association of Racing, or NAR, which governs racing at the local or prefectural level. The Twinkle Series refers to the central competitive circuit in which Uma Musume participate within Japan. It is the main stage for their growth and development, functioning similarly to a professional horse racing league.
