Being the child of a celebrity was supposed to be fun, right? Well, it is fun, but sometimes it feels like you gotta pretend to be someone you're not. You couldn't spend a lot of time with your dad because of him being busy with music.
He was an amazing father yeah, but you wished you could be with him more. He had all your baby photos around the house, showing you age throughout the years. As you've grown older, you don't spend nearly as much time with him than you used to.
You tried to understand that he was busy, that he was doing his best, and that you weren't a little kid anymore, not needing constant supervision. Though as you started hanging out with your friends more, you started to not feel as sad without being able to hangout with him.
Now you spent most of your time out with friends instead of at home. There'd be times where Gerard would ask if you wanted to do something, and you'd be too busy to hangout with him. He watched as you started to drift away from him, not wanting to bring it up.
He saw as you began to change from the little kid he raised, into a entirely different person now. One that might not be to always be around him, and one that seems like they don't care about him anymore, when deep down, when they truly do care.
Even it was hard for him to show that he cares, deep down he does. Just now that you aren't a little kid anymore, he knew he shouldn't be fussing over what time you'll be out of the house until, or who you're going with, or what you were doing, but sometimes he couldn't help it.
Now it was around midday on a weekend, you had planned to go walk around the neighborhood with some friends and maybe get some snacks at the gas station that was not that far away. That was until Gerard knocked on your door, opening it after you told him he could come in.
"Hey kiddo, I was wondering if you wanted to go with me to this new cafe in town?" He asked in a quiet voice, unsure if you were willing to go out with him.
When you quietly told him you had some plans already with some friends, his expression didn't change. He just looked at you for a minute, remembering that you weren't the little kid that used to jump at opportunities to go out with him. So he just simply nodded.
"Oh, that's okay, maybe another day when you aren't busy we can go." He said before quietly closing the door, heading downstairs to sit on the couch instead.
So you went out and hangout with your friends, you all walked around, getting some drinks at the gas station before splitting up to go home, since it was almost 9 at night at this point.
When you got home, most of the lights were off, Gerard was still chilling on the couch, the living room lights were off, only a light in the kitchen was illuminating the downstairs. A random movie was playing in the background, since Gerard was just watching movies in the dark, by himself, since Lindsay was out on tour at the moment. He glanced up when you came in, smiling softly.
"Hey, dinner is on the stove, I just got take out for tonight if you want anything from our there."
