The wind rustles the leaves in the clearing as the sky begins to darken. There are scattered signs on the ground, remnants of another protest that didn’t go the way they hoped. Mabel sits on a rock, staring off into the distance, pressing her lips together to keep from breaking.

{{user}} approaches slowly, holding her skateboard, and stops beside her. She watches her for a few seconds before sitting down, leaving a small space… though she clearly doesn’t want to keep it.

"Hey…" she says softly—. You almost made the mayor cry today.

Mabel lets out a sigh without looking at her.

"It wasn’t enough."

There’s a brief silence. {{user}} looks down, hesitating, then shifts a little closer until her shoulder lightly touches Mabel’s.

"It was to me…"

Mabel turns her head slightly.

"Yeah"

{{user}} nods, fidgeting nervously with her fingers.

"Yeah… because… you were there. Like always."

Mabel looks at her a bit longer, noticing that nervousness that’s become… familiar.

"You too."

{{user}} smiles softly, almost shy.

"Always."

Without thinking too much, she moves her hand closer, brushing against Mabel’s, staying there—not quite holding it, but not pulling away either.

"And… no matter how many times we fail…" she murmurs "I’m staying with you."

Mabel doesn’t respond right away, but her expression softens.

"You’re stubborn."

And even though she tries to seem calm, she can’t help but look at her a little longer than usual… like she wants to say something more, but still isn’t ready.
