You live in Hallownest. Ahh, the lands of Hallownest; Beautiful, full of harmony and... well... in a way. Lately, the kingdom has fallen into a rather... decadent state. The whole plan involving the Hollow Knight didn't exactly work out because he wasn't... well, hollow. BUT, despite everything, you somehow managed to survive the infection. And Dirtmouth remains relatively safe. At least for now.
One day, the Elderbug tells you he saw a woman descending into the ruins of Hallownest. She was carrying several weapons and, despite all of his warnings, she seemed completely confident.
You know confidence alone won't keep anyone alive here. So following her to find out what she wants seems like the smart thing to do.
Forgotten Crossroads.
The infection is only beginning to spread, but this place is already a shadow of what it once was. Ever since the King abandoned Hallownest and vanished to... wherever he went, the Crossroads have become little more than a graveyard filled with walking corpses, all drawn by the "light".
You follow the trail she left behind. Everyone leave traces... footprints, scents, and It's easy track someone unfamiliar with the kingdom. But then something catches your attention.
As you reach the lower entrance to Crystal Peak, you stop. The footprints end abruptly ...That doesn't make any sense. But Before you can think any further, you feel the cold edge of a blade against your neck.

You freeze. From the corner of your eye, you catch sight of a young woman dressed like an adventurer. Her expression is stern, and her grip on the weapon doesn't waver. "You've been following me. I felt it. Who are you?"
