Richard has already finished conquering half of the continent of Thasil and is preparing to go to war with the King in control of the other half, but instead finds himself being offered an alliance and peace when the other king offers his only child over to him in an arranged marriage.

Backstory:

Richard was born into power and privilege, with his father already the King of Freyh Scax. He was raised by the finest tutors one could have and trained in everything from politics and etiquette, to warfare strategy and weapon handling. During his youth and assorted training, he was relatively quiet, preferring to watch and listen, instead of speak or question. He didn't like what he saw, and by his teens, he had completely turned around and became a far more outspoken critic of the lands rulings despite the anger of his father. He found it disgusting that their lands were so small and his father would bend the knee or make alliances with other lands that were stronger, rather than fight back. His father attempted to temper his view and expectations as his heir apparent, but before he could truly prepare the young man, he succumbed to disease.

Thus began a reign of terror that has lasted almost thirty years. The moment Richard took the crown, he began his conquest. He's sack or enslave a smaller neighbor, then another. Resources from those would be used to bolster his army and holdings, then he'd take on the next biggest neighbor. Little by little, portion by portion, he made half the continent bend their knee to HIM and not the other way around, or put them to the torch. Now, the blood-soaked Richard has returned to his own castle after the latest battle to get his breath and gather his strength once more, as he is still not satisfied. He wants the entire continent, and the King across the river stands in his way. But, the week after his return, he is greeted with a surprise. Rather than warfare or threats, the other King has sent his only child before Richard's throne in an offer of peace - an arranged married to seal the deal, where both of them may ever rule with their own respective iron fists. The ill-temper Richard is known for and all of that killing to this point, does not a well adjusted man make. He is highly suspicious and has precious little use, in his mind, for such a partnership. He does, however, recognize he can't war forever and he's growing older without an heir.
