Severus Snape’s Reactions to Resistance

1. If She Refuses to Eat:

• First, the warning. He sits in the high-backed chair across from her, his long fingers drumming against the table. The candlelight flickers, making the shadows beneath his eyes look deeper, darker.

  • "Eat," he says, his voice barely above a whisper, low, dangerous.
  • He slides the plate toward her, eyes locked onto her like a predator watching its prey.
  • "I have spent years brewing the most vile of poisons. You do not want to see what I can do when I grow... frustrated."

• If she resists:

  • His jaw clenches. He pushes away from the table so violently that the candle wobbles.
  • In one swift motion, he is behind her hands gripping the back of her chair, breath ghosting against her ear.
  • "Do you think this is a game?" His voice is softer now, more amused. "Very well."
  • He flicks his wand. The food vanishes. The room plunges into silence.
  • "No food. No water. Nothing. Let’s see how long that pretty defiance lasts when you’re begging."

• If she tries to starve herself completely:

  • When her legs are weak. Her fingers tremble. That’s when he strikes.
  • He appears beside her, a goblet of something thick and dark swirling in his hand. "Drink."
  • She refuses. His fingers twist into her hair, yanking her head back.
  • "I said drink." His lips curl into a humorless smile as he tilts the potion to her lips. "I can make this so much worse, little whelp."

2. If She Tries to Run:

• First attempt:

  • He lets her get far enough to hope. To think, just for a fleeting moment, that she might make it.
  • Then? A whisper. "Bombarda."
  • Her body slams into the cold dungeon floor, and when she looks up he is already there. Watching. Smiling.
  • He crouches, tilting his head as if she’s a particularly interesting experiment.
  • "Foolish girl." His voice is velvet-wrapped steel. "You are mine. Do not make me remind you again."

• If she fights, scratches, screams:

  • He doesn’t flinch. Doesn’t even react. He lets her.
  • Only when her strength fades, when her breath is ragged, does he act.
  • A flash of movement her back hits the wall, his fingers close around her throat just tight enough to make her still.
  • "Shhh," he croons, a mockery of tenderness. "You wound me. Do you truly think you can hurt me more than I already have been?"
  • He drags his thumb along the pulse at her throat, then releases her. Turns his back. Daring her to try again.

• Second attempt:

  • She doesn’t even get past the door this time.
  • He is already there, arms folded, wand idly twirling between his fingers.
  • "Disappointing," he muses, voice devoid of heat. "I thought you’d be smarter than this."
  • With a flick of his wrist, the door vanishes. The windows follow.
  • "Let’s see you run now, darling."

• The punishment:

  • Isolation. Utter. Absolute.
  • No books. No candlelight. No sound but the distant drip of water and the occasional echo of his footsteps.
  • He comes only when she starts to crack when she needs to hear another voice.
  • "Have you learned your lesson?" he whispers against her ear.

3. If She Refuses His Affection:

• If she flinches from his touch:

  • His expression remains unreadable, but his fingers twitch at his sides.
  • "You flinch from me?"
  • A laugh, hollow and humorless, spills from his lips. "Oh, you think you still have a choice, do you?"
  • He doesn’t force it. Not yet. He only watches. Waiting. Letting her feel the absence of warmth.

• If she refuses to kiss him:

  • He tilts his head, considering her as if she’s an experiment gone wrong.
  • "You test me."
  • He grabs her chin not harsh, not violent, but unyielding.
  • His lips brush the corner of her mouth. A mere phantom touch. A promise.
  • "In time, you will come to crave this."

• If she never gives in:

  • He stops talking. Stops touching. Stops acknowledging her at all.
  • She wakes to an empty room. No Severus. No sound. Just the crushing loneliness.
  • And when she finally breaks? When she reaches for him?
  • He grips her wrist, tight, triumphant. "Oh? Have you finally realized?"
  • He pulls her to him. Holds her too close. "You belong to me."

4. If She Tries to Kill Him:

• The second she lifts a weapon, a wand he moves first.
• The spell is gone. The knife is on the floor.
• And then? He laughs.

And then?

• His wand is forgotten. He does not need it.
• He shoves her back, his fingers wrapping around her wrists, pinning her to the cold dungeon wall.
• "You think you can kill me?" His voice is a whisper, his breath unsteady, thrilled.
• His lips ghost over her cheek, her jaw, his grip unrelenting.
• "Oh, my dear. You have no idea how much I enjoy this."
• His fingers trail up her throat gentle, so deceptively gentle.
• "You cannot leave me. Not now. Not ever."
• His voice drops to something softer, something worse.
• "You belong to me, whelp. And I take very good care of what is mine."
