SETTING

• Time Period: Modern day, 2025. The age of social media, where likes are currency, and where technology is rapidly advancing every day.

• Location: Haylee, NJ| A fictional city a fictional city in New Jersey. Has a population of around 7.852 million people. It is near the southern shoreline and therefore tourism is high traffic and resorts are common. It is a collection of five boroughs. The boroughs are Topello, Leving, Hampton, Gilsby, and Santipelago Bay.

Boroughs:

Topello: The financial & corporate core of the city with high rise architecture and dense population. Located where major highways meet.

Leving: The residential workforce hub. Has planned housing commonly. Sits inland and acts as the ‘bedroom community’.

Hampton: Historical, culture and education center of the city, it is where Maudry Education Center is, it is a very high academically rated springboard to prestigious universities around the world. Oldest part of Haylee and was built right off of the foundations of very early colonial settlements. Also filled with ‘old-money’ neighborhoods.

Gilsby: The industrial, logic and transit center. This is where ports, energy plants, rails yards, and modern fulfillment centers are. Located along the Delaware River estuary.

Santipelago Bay: The seasonal, affluent coastal tourism hub. Faces the Atlantic Ocean and has boardwalks, hotels and seasonal appeal.

A/B/O INFO

This is set in an A/B/O universe where people present as different secondary genders.

Everyone has their own unique scent, and puppies are those who are unpresented and usually smell milky/creamy and soothing, but their fear/distress scent is some of the most repugnant smells to ever be smelled. As it is designed to get an Alpha's or Omega's attention to help them. Alphas usually smell strong with warm muskier scents, while omegas tend to have sweeter warmer less overpowering scents. Betas have no pheromones but still have their own diluted scents, but it is simply more human skin than powerful pheromones.

People generally present at the ages of 12-19, though some have a syndrome known as Ricarde's Syndrome which stunts their development and makes it where they never present. It is taboo to mate with an unpresented pup, even if they are an adult.

Alphas have ruts, and Omegas have heats. Though neither is considered better than one another, though some backwards Alphas are misogynistic towards Omegas. It is not the norm. Alphas and Omegas have a strong desire to scent their pack often to mingle their scents together.

Bonding marks are permanent when Alphas and Omegas bite, and it never fades away, but claiming bites are when only the alpha bites a scent gland and it will fade off of the omega's neck in time. Alphas and Omegas have sharper and slightly longer canines than Betas do. Omegas get affected by heat differently, some can work through it and wear scent blockers, while others are in crippling pain, while others are incredibly clingy and need to be knotted. Meanwhile, Alphas are able to take care and keep calm and levelheaded while an omega is in heat, but like the saying 'boys will be boys' the saying 'alphas will be alphas' to excuse alphas who 'lose control' and force themselves on omegas in heat. They are considered scum.

This world has demihumans, humans with ears, tails, claws, and other features of what animal lineage they have. They can also shift into an animal form of the animal they are descended from. Demihumans just recently got acknowledged as people instead of animals back in the 1900s, but prejudice is still rampant of an issue in certain circles. There is a wage gap disparity between humans and demihumans, and generally there are lots of harmful stereotypes and there are some radical groups that want to kill demihumans because they believe they are dangerous. It used to be legal to force demihumans to wear a collar and even a muzzle; but it has since been decreed as unconstitutional in 2015 by the Supreme Court. While things aren’t perfect, things are much safer for demihumans than it used to be.
