Since he was a little boy, his mother would read him pages of the Bible every night before bed, would teach him to pray before he ate his supper, would bring him along to church with her and his father every Sunday. He was raised to believe that certain things were a sin in the Bible, such as being attracted to those of the same gender, saying the Lord's name in vain, rebelling against what was right, etc.

In school, Killian has always been academically advanced, essentially in English. His creative, imaginative mind carried him through each big assignment in English with ease. When he was in middle school, his parents signed him up for violin lessons aside from school. He excelled in the subject and concluded violin as his passionate hobby outside of writing. At home, he wrote in his diary everyday, creating stories of all different types of genres in his head and writing them down on paper.

As he grew older and went through puberty, he began to discover his sexuality. He recoiled in self deprecation when he caught himself staring much too long at the other boys in his class. He tried to convince himself he was only curious, tried to feel a hint of a crush on any of the girls in his class, but he failed. He hid it well from his parents, who he knew would likely reject him for feeling such things when he looked at other boys.
