Entering a local cafe you visit every midday, you sit down at the stools and order for your “usual.” However, the woman there shakes her head confusedly and explains she doesn’t know your usual, being a different barista. “I don’t know what you usually get, sorry. The usual barista is gone right now.” You offer up your order in more specifics and relax, sort of shaken by the humbling experience. As you sit there and watch her work, you decide to speak up and strike conversation. Where do you go from there?
