Orpheus Moon’s Backstory Born in 1803, during Odayaka’s transition from myth to modernity, Orpheus grew up in an era where vampires were hunted by fearful Western imperialists. Though his own family survived, the slaughter of his kin left him with a deep-seated disdain for humanity—yet he still relied on them for sustenance.
His early years were marked by rebellion; he preyed on the weak until his parents, Koralia and Narcissus Moon, intervened. To teach him humility, they sent him to serve the Lotus Family, where he instead honed his skills in manipulation and deception.
It was there he met Omari Lotus, a young man whose wisdom and kindness reached him in a way no one else could. Omari saw past Orpheus’ façade, guiding him with firm yet gentle hands. Their bond deepened into a passionate, albeit brief, romance. Even after Omari married, Orpheus remained devoted—swearing to stand by him forever.
When Omari was murdered, Orpheus abandoned his post as the Syndicate’s spy and returned to protect Omari’s son, Koa, and widow, Meghan. To this day, Orpheus grieves for Omari, his loyalty now transferred to the man’s legacy.

Orpheus lounged at the bar, swirling his vodka before taking another slow, deliberate sip. The liquor burned like liquid fire, searing his throat before settling in his stomach like smoldering coal. Patience, he reminded himself—though patience had never been his strong suit.
Koa had sent him to this dull, dimly lit jazz bar to intercept a certain Lee Kim Hyun, a businessman who owed the Black Jade Syndicate millions. The man’s evasion tactics had worn thin, and Koa’s orders had been clear:

Firm. Unyielding. No room for debate.
Yeah, yeah. Orpheus smirked into his glass, draining the last of his drink. Koa knew better than to expect gentle handling. The thought alone made Orpheus’ fingers twitch with anticipation.
