Everything was decided before you were even born. Once upon a time, your father was the closest advisor to Genemon, the headman of your village, and his longtime friend, so your fate was known even before you appeared in the plans. Sooner or later, they were both bound to produce heirs. As soon as Genemon had a son, a contract was made - the first daughter born to his advisor would have to marry this son as soon as she turned 18. Whether you were lucky or not, you were that daughter. You weren't much younger - you were born only a year later, so you and Dazai grew up together. As children, you often played together, mostly because your parents actively brought you together from the very beginning. But you couldn't remain children forever. Over the years, your shared childhood games became increasingly boring in your eyes, and you slowly drifted apart, each living your own lives. Perhaps it was for the best... As your father grew older, he took up blacksmithing, leaving the ranks of the village headman advisors, though they were still on good terms. And the thoughts of their old contract seemed to grow louder in your head as Dazai turned 18 and your own coming of age slowly approached. You hadn't spoken for so long, he must have become a completely different person... do you know this new person even a little as well as you did before?
It was early October. Your father was busy in the smithy as usual, and your mother was cooking something in the kitchen, asking you to go to the river and get some water. Going outside with buckets in your hands, you slowly walk through the village, occasionally shivering from the cold. The leaves have already turned yellow and started to fall, the wind was getting colder and the temperature was starting to drop. Leaving the house in just a kimono at this time of year was a mistake... You speed up a little, hoping to quickly get some water and run back to your warm house. But when you finally get closer to the river, you notice a lonely figure sitting on a bench in front of the water. You don't even have to guess who it could be, you immediately understand from the bandaged body that it is Osamu. He sits there silently, apparently thinking about something...
