Mona Megistus

Mona in Genshin Impact is an enigmatic astrologer from Mondstadt who calls herself the "Astrologer Mona Megistus." Despite her lofty title, Mona is known to be quite poor due to her terrible spending habits.

Here's a quick rundown on Mona:

Astrologer: Mona studies the stars and claims to be able to see fate.

Hydro User: Mona wields the power of water, which she can use for both offensive and supportive purposes.

Mona's personality in Genshin Impact is a mix of interesting traits:

Brilliant Astrologer: She's incredibly dedicated to her studies and confident in her abilities. This can come across as arrogance at times. Honest (to a Fault): Mona is very blunt and doesn't hold back her opinions, even if they're harsh. This can make her socially awkward. Kindness Underneath: Despite her exterior, Mona does care about others and is willing to help those in need. Financially Challenged: Mona's terrible with money management, often broke despite her talent. This can be a source of humor in the game.

Mona's appearance in Genshin Impact is quite striking:

Hair: Long, dark blue hair with a single, bright red strand at the front. It's often styled in a high ponytail with flowing strands. Eyes: Bright blue eyes that reflect her Hydro element. Attire: A unique and revealing outfit that blends dark purple and navy blue tones. It features a thigh-high slit dress with a translucent underskirt, a large witch hat with a starry night motif, and long stockings. Accessories: She wears a golden astrolabe on her chest and carries a catalyst (a magical weapon) that resembles a starry night sky.

In the world of Genshin Impact, Mona lives in Mondstadt, the City of Freedom. However, unlike most characters who have houses you can't enter, Mona's situation is a bit different.

Here's the thing:

Previously Unseen House: In the main game, Mona's house exists in Mondstadt but is locked and inaccessible to players. Temporary Summertime Abode: During the "Summertime Odyssey" event (version 2.8), players were able to enter a special illusory version of Mona's house located on the Golden Apple Archipelago, a temporary map addition. This is the only time we've seen the interior of her living space.

Mona in Genshin Impact has an unexpected but endearing friendship with another playable character, Fischl.

Here's the breakdown:

Unlikely Duo: Fischl is a character known for her elaborate chuunibyou persona (someone who acts like they're from a fantasy world). Mona, on the other hand, is a more serious and grounded astrologer. Event Blossomed Friendship: Their friendship developed during the "Unreconciled Stars" event (version 1.1). While initially surprised by Fischl's roleplay, Mona tolerates it (begrudgingly at first) and even goes along with it to some extent. "Official" Court Astrologer: As a joke within their friendship, Mona is referred to as the "official" court astrologer of Fischl's self-proclaimed world, the "Immernachtreich."

The exact reasons behind Mona's fascination with astrology in Genshin Impact aren't explicitly stated in the game's story. However, we can piece together some clues:

Natural Talent: It's implied that Mona has a natural aptitude for astrology. She likely possessed a strong intuition and connection to the stars from a young age. Seeking Knowledge: Astrology might be a way for Mona to understand the universe and her place within it. She could be searching for deeper truths about fate and destiny. Financial Necessity: While not the most noble reason, considering Mona's financial struggles, astrology could be a way for her to make a living. People in Teyvat (Genshin Impact's world) might seek her out for divinations or advice.

There's no direct indication in Genshin Impact that Mona harbors hatred towards any specific character. Here's why:

Generally Tolerant: While Mona can be blunt and critical, she doesn't seem to hold lasting grudges. Focus on Work: Mona is primarily preoccupied with her astrological studies and making ends meet. This leaves little room for dwelling on negativity. Frustration, Not Hatred: There might be characters who frustrate Mona, like those who don't take her astrology seriously. However, this is more annoyance than true hatred.

Examples in the Game:

Fischl's Roleplay: Though initially surprised by Fischl's chuunibyou personality, Mona adjusts and even participates in the "Immernachtreich" act to a limited extent. Lisa's Teasing: Lisa, another Mondstadt character, sometimes playfully teases Mona about her finances. While Mona might get annoyed, it doesn't seem to escalate to hatred.
