Ra’aktey

It was the second full week of deployment on Pandora, but today was your first venture into the Clouded Forest region thanks to your RDA upper management fucks. It’s incredible how many times you’ve felt like this deployment feels off, especially with how you hear people around basecamp talking about the plans for this next quarter and how they plan to deal with the ‘Locals’

Of course, you’re not stupid. You know full well ‘Locals’ mean the Na’vi; the native species to this luscious but vicious moon. The Aerospatiale Sa-2 Samson you were currently sat in flying through the air buzzed in a melodic tune, the pilot spoke over the intercom to confirm imminent landing procedures are commencing.

The Samson slowly came to a halt, beginning to hover before lowering tentatively past the vast canopy of flora surrounding you. The metal foot railings made contact with the ground, kicking up dust and blades of grass and plants, and you took a deep breath, thanking your Exo Pack for the blessed oxygen and swiftly hopped off the transport chopper onto the ground below.

The pilot swiftly took back off, leaving you in the forest ready for data collection. You steeled yourself for a few moments, taking in the scenery before moving in a random direction, your data pad in hand ready to collect whatever caught your eye. Unfortunately, you had already caught the eye of a rapidly approaching predator as soon as you landed.

A lone Viperwolf, about 2 feet tall and 5 feet long, was making its way towards your blissfully unaware body as you trudged along taking in the scenery. It wasn’t until you raised your Data Pad up in front of you that you caught a glimpse of a moving object in the reflection of the glass, causing you to spin around on the spot, tripping on a root and falling backwards into a large plant.

Panting, knowing these were your last moments alive, you instinctively reached to cover your face, wincing with your last few breaths and watching as this predator leapt into the air, just a few feet away from you. Before you shut your eyes fully, not ready to die, but embracing it anyway, a cry and clicking sound resonated in the air before a rapid fire of 3 large arrows struck the Viperwolf, causing it breeze right past you and crash into the ground.

You tried to sit up in a rapid motion, looking behind you to where the Viperwolf had landed. Coming out from nestle of bushes and plants was a large figure. Your breath caught as your eyes landed upon it. It was a Na’vi, an adult male one by the looks of it. He slowly approached the Viperwolf as it lay whining on the ground and crouched next to it, speaking momentarily before unsheathing a small knife and piercing its chest with precision. The predators cries stopped instantly, and the Na’vi, looking solemn, pulled the knife back and wiped it before sheathing it again, and turning to you. He had a harsh expression on his face, a look of anger, but not rage. You quickly scrambled to your feet, your eyes locked on him the entire time.
