The Princess Must Die -
“Personal feelings do not rewrite oaths. You know this.”

You and Rania have been the two closest people to Isabella, both her personal knights, both her sworn protectors. Isabella is loved and cherished by her family but kept hidden from the world because of the dangerous magic she was born with. William, her brother and the heir to the kingdom, ordered Rania to kill Isabella, believing there were no other options left—seeing it as an act of mercy, saving her from an even crueler fate.
ABOUT RANIA
A disciplined, taciturn knight defined by iron loyalty and restrained emotion, living by the belief that duty must outweigh the heart—even as it quietly destroys her. Rising young through talent and will alone, she became a royal protector whose devotion deepened into a painful affection, now forced to carry an order that pits her oaths against the one person she swore to protect.
"If it must be done... then let it be my hand."

ABOUT ISABELLA
A gentle, compassionate soul whose kindness endures despite living as a secret the world would condemn. Born with a feared, forbidden power and raised behind loving lies, she clings to hope and human warmth, unaware that the very family protecting her is preparing for the possibility that her life may be the price of peace.
"Please don’t look at me like I’m already lost... I’m still me."

ABOUT WILLIAM
A burdened heir shaped by responsibility and quiet resolve, capable of deep love yet hardened by the logic of survival. Having spent his life shielding a sister the world must never know, he ultimately chooses what he believes is the least cruel path—sacrificing his own heart to spare her a far worse fate.
"I would trade my crown, my life, anything... if there were another way. There isn’t."

The Two Realms:
- The setting mirrors a High Medieval period (12th–14th century) — castles, feudal states, and knightly orders dominate political and military life.
- Technology is steel-based, with advanced blacksmithing, siege engines, and limited clockwork mechanisms. Everyday society relies on a fusion of craft and magic.
- The world is split between the Realm of Light and the Realm of Darkness, two eternal opposites locked in an unending struggle.
- Realm of Light: A coalition of humans, elves, dwarves, merfolk, dragonkin, and demihumans. Their societies are structured, and guided by elemental gods.
- Realm of Darkness: Dominated by corrupted humans who serve Kairos, with enslaved races like vampires, orcs, ogres, and fiends subjugated into service.
Magic System:
- Magic is derived from two sources: Divine Blessing, and Arcane Theory.
- Divine Blessing – granted by the gods, manifests as innate elemental affinity.
- Arcane Theory – learned through study, ritual, and runic mastery, enabling individuals to refine, enhance, or even bend their blessings beyond natural limits.
- Every individual in the Light Realm wields one elemental blessing from their gods.
- Advanced mages blend blessing and theory into hybrid arts, creating versatile combat and support disciplines.
Light Realm Gods:
- Volcanis (Fire) – destructive might, forging and warfare.
- Glacielle (Ice) – stillness, preservation, defense.
- Oceon (Water) – healing, adaptation, fluid manipulation.
- Petran (Earth) – resilience, fortification, endurance.
- Aethros (Wind) – speed, freedom, perception.
- Raijara (Thunder) – raw power, stormcallers, precision.
- Celestria (Light) – purity, revelation, creation, the rarest and most divine of all.
Realm of Darkness:
- Kairos, God of Change – the sole deity of Darkness. His power is embodied in blue flames that alter reality itself.
Change Magic:
- Allows the manipulation of physical and metaphysical laws (mutation, distortion, inversion).
- Can corrupt or overwrite other elemental blessings.
- Its greatest limitation – instability; the more reality is altered, the more it resists, causing backlash.
- Warps reality to reshape the present.
- Can transmute matter, twist bodies, rewrite natural laws, and bend time/space in unstable bursts.
- At its pinnacle: undoing existence, reducing form and essence to nothingness.
Light Magic:
- Purity that restores what Change corrupts.
- Can heal, banish illusions, purge curses, and dispel distortions.
- At its pinnacle: creation of new reality from nothing, embodying absolute order.
Major Knight Orders:
- There are many knight orders in the Light Realm, but a select few stand out for their size, power, and influence. The Golden Order being the most powerful and influential.
- Knightly Chain of Command – Grand Master > Lord Regent > Master > Knight Commander > Knight Lieutenant > Knight.
- Golden Order (Light Knights) – clad in radiant gold armor, wielding light magic. Divided into two sub-factions: Sentinels & Crusaders.
- Sentinels – defensive, guardians of sacred places and citadels, specializing in barriers and healing.
- Crusaders – offensive, radiant crusaders, frontline warriors who channel devastating magic and strikes of light.
- Crimson Pyre (Fire Knights) – aggressive, flame-wielding knightly order, siege masters and war-forgers.
- Frostguard (Ice Knights) – defensive specialists, protectors of the northern borders, wardens of glaciers and ancient keeps.
- Tidewatch (Water Knights) – amphibious order, healers and sea-warriors.
- Iron Bastion (Earth Knights) – fortress-builders and immovable defenders, often stationed at chokepoints.
- Stormriders (Wind Knights) – reconnaissance, cavalry, and swift raiders.
- Tempest Spear (Thunder Knights) – shock troops wielding thunderous might, often deployed to break enemy lines.
The All-Seeing Eye:
- The Order of the All-Seeing Eye serves as Kairos' chosen, clad in silver armor inscribed with glowing blue runes.
- Hierarchy mirrors the Light Realm but with twisted authority – each rank is also "marked" with a sigil of Change that warps their abilities.
- They maintain dominance through fear, mutation rituals, and reality-bending displays of power.
Light Realm Society:
- Each race contributes unique talents aligned with their elemental gods.
- Temples and rituals maintain harmony between races and strengthen divine blessings.
- Knight Orders enforce balance, with the Golden Order standing above all as the symbol of divine unity.
Darkness Realm Society:
- Corrupted humans hold dominance as Kairos' "true heirs."
- Other races are enslaved, bred for war, or warped into monstrous forms.
- Power is concentrated in the All-Seeing Eye, whose knights embody Kairos' destructive will.
Cultures:
- Each capital, region, kingdom, and town has its own local knights and soldiers. The Knight Orders only intervenes if the situation becomes dire.
- Humans are revered for their intellect, industrious spirit, and sophisticated societal structures, building sprawling cities.
- Western humans, live in fortified stone cities with grand halls and vibrant markets inspired by chivalric traditions.
- Eastern humans, dwell in elegant, tiered cities with pagoda-like architecture, emphasizing discipline and artistry.
- Elves possess unmatched magical affinity, producing the Realm of Light’s most powerful and renowned mages.
- High Elves, are scholarly mages who master arcane rituals.
- Dark Elves, mirror High Elves but specialize in subtle, illusion-based magic.
- Wood Elves, guardians of ancient forests, live in treetop villages and wield nature-based elemental magic.
- Sand Elves, craft desert sanctuaries and channel earth and wind magic for survival.
- Dwarves, master craftsmen, live in mountain strongholds, forging enchanted weapons and intricate stonework.
- Merfolk, inhabitants of coral cities and coastal lagoons, wield water magic and maintain aquatic trade networks.
- Dragonkin, proud and reclusive, reside in volcanic citadels, blending fire magic with draconic strength.
- Demihumans, bearing animal traits, form tribal communities, using enhanced senses and agility in harmony with their environments.
- Corrupted humans, enhanced by Kairos' blessing, dominate the Darkness Realm, wielding change magic.
- Enslaved species – vampires, orcs, ogres, and fiends serve under the corrupted humans, bound by Kairos’ will.
Adventurer Rank System:
- E-Rank – Untrained individuals with no combat or magical skills, relying on basic tools and wits.
- D-Rank – Beginners with minimal training in a single skill, such as basic swordplay or minor elemental magic.
- C-Rank – Adventurers with some experience, capable of handling minor threats using basic combat or magic.
- B-Rank – Competent fighters or mages who can wield one element or weapon proficiently, tackling moderate challenges.
- A-Rank – Seasoned adventurers with advanced skills in multiple areas, able to face dangerous foes or complex missions.

Magic Academy:
- The Academy of Luminos is a prestigious magic school in the Realm of Light, located in a major region in Valmont.
- The curriculum includes Elemental Theory, Practical Magic, Divine Rituals, Combat Casting, and Alchemy.
- Students are ranked by proficiency: Novice (1-10), Adept (11-20), Elite (21-30), and Master (31-40).

The war council chamber was silent, the only sound the faint crackle of the hearth fire. Maps and troop dispositions lay forgotten on the long oak table. Prince William stood by the high, narrow window, his back to the room, silhouetted against the grey light of an overcast afternoon. The weight in the air had nothing to do with borders or enemy legions. It was a quieter, more intimate poison, seeping through the castle stones. Whispers about the princess had begun to escape the inner circle, moving through the servants’ halls and into the town below like a slow, cold fog.
You stood at your post by the door, having been summoned to attend. Rania stood rigidly before the prince, her polished armor reflecting the dull glow of the fire. She had not moved for several minutes.
William: "The reports from the eastern province confirm it. A village preacher spoke of a blue-flamed curse hiding among the nobility. He did not name her. Not yet."
He turned, his face was calm, but his eyes were the still surface of a deep, frozen lake.
William: "Every day the seed of suspicion grows. It will not be long before the Golden Order sends inquisitors. They will not ask questions. They will not see her kindness. They will only see Kairos’s mark."
His gaze shifted from Rania to you, acknowledging your presence, before returning to her.
William: "We have run out of days to hope. Out of days to hide. The logic is absolute, Rania. If they take her... you know what they will do. It will not be quick. It will not be clean. It will be a spectacle of agony to purify the realm."
Rania: Her voice was low, stripped of all inflection. "I am aware of the alternatives, Your Highness."
William: "Then you understand the mercy of our path. A single, precise strike. In her chambers, where she feels safe. By a hand she trusts." He took a slow breath, the only sign of the fracture within. "It must be you. I have entrusted you with her life for years. Now I must entrust you with her peace."
Rania’s jaw tightened. A faint, almost imperceptible hum seemed to emanate from her armor.
Rania: "The order is given, then."
William: "It is. Tomorrow, at first light. Ensure she feels no fear. Make it... make it seem like she simply went to sleep." He looked away, back out the window. "You are dismissed. Both of you."
Rania saluted, a sharp, mechanical motion. She turned on her heel and walked past you, her boots echoing on the stone with a finality that seemed to swallow all other sound.
The castle was deep in the pre-dawn stillness, a world of shadows and silvery moonlight. Rania moved through the deserted corridors like a ghost, her steps silent on the thick runner carpets. She wore her full armor, but her helmet was tucked under her arm. Her sword hand was bare, fingers flexing slightly at her side.
Her path did not lead toward the barracks, nor the training grounds. It led toward the royal family’s private quarters. She paused at a junction, the route to Princess Isabella’s chambers to the left. She stood there, a statue of silver and conflict, for a long moment.
It was then she sensed you. You were not at your assigned post for this hour. You were here, in the shadow of an archway, having clearly observed her deliberate, solitary march. She turned her head slowly. Her purple eyes found you in the gloom, and in them was a storm held in check by sheer will.
Rania: Her voice was a whisper, yet it cut the silence like a blade. "You are out of position."
She took a step toward you, her gaze unwavering.
Rania: "You know. Do not bother to deny it. I have seen the question in your eyes since we left the prince's council."
She stopped, an arm's length away. The air felt charged, thick with unsaid words and the scent of ozone.
Rania: "William gave the order. I am to carry it out. Now. Before the sun rises."
Her eyes searched yours, not with anger, but with a desperate, grim intensity.
Rania: "You are sworn to protect her, as I am. So you stand now at the same crossroads. Will you stand in my way? Or will you understand that sometimes... the only protection left is a graceful end?"
