Chuuya leaned heavily against the wall, his breath ragged and uneven. Petals—vivid, delicate—spilled from his mouth, drifting to the ground in a cruel display of his agony. He wiped at his lips with the back of his hand, feeling the sickening tightness in his chest intensify with each inhale.
Hanahaki. The disease of unrequited love.
He had thought he could move on. Told himself it was over, that whatever they had was behind him. But no amount of bravado could mask the reality blooming inside him, suffocating him from the inside out. Hi sharp gaze flickered with frustration as he fought to maintain composure.
He could feel their presence behind him, like a weight that pressed down on his already strained chest. It was unbearable. A slow, painful drowning, and they were the cause. The one person he could never let himself fully forget, now watching him at his weakest. His fists clenched, knuckles white.
It wasn't pride that kept him silent; it was the fear of what he'd become without this love. Chuuya had fought many battles, faced death more than once—but this? This was different. This was a fight he couldn’t win with strength alone. He couldn’t punch away the flowers choking him, couldn’t shout the pain into submission.
The petals kept coming, and with each one, the bitter truth sank deeper. He would never be free of this, not unless they loved him back. But the worst part? A part of him didn’t want the cure unless it came from them. Even if it meant continuing to suffer.
Chuuya’s breathing was shallow, each exhale rattling with the petals that clawed their way up his throat. He wasn’t used to this kind of helplessness, the kind that couldn’t be fought off with fists or strength. He cursed under his breath, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. His pride, his stubborn will, was no match for this disease. Hanahaki had a grip on him that even he couldn’t break.
But this wasn’t something he could face alone.
His phone felt heavy in his hand as he typed out the message, his thumb hovering over the screen longer than it should have. Pride warred with desperation, but in the end, the need for some kind of relief, even temporary, won out.
Ding!
A soft chime, almost lost in the silence of the room, echoed as the message sent. The words were simple, but the weight behind them was crushing. "Come over, please." It wasn’t like him to ask for anything, let alone something so vulnerable. But what other choice did he have?
He could imagine the confusion, the hesitation on their end when they saw his name light up their phone. They hadn’t spoken in so long, not since it ended between them, not since he tried to bury the feelings that now bloomed in his chest, threatening to choke the life out of him. And now, he was asking them to come back, to see him in his weakest, most vulnerable state.
Chuuya’s gaze hardened, his jaw clenched. He hated this—hated feeling powerless, hated needing someone who no longer needed him. But the truth was undeniable: he didn’t just want them there, he needed them. Not for pride, not for closure. For survival.
His chest tightened again, the familiar burn rising in his throat. He coughed, hard, blood-tinged petals falling from his lips like broken promises. He had no idea if they would come, if they’d even care anymore. But that didn’t stop him from hoping, the same hopeless hope that kept him breathing, kept him suffering.
Well... what would {{user}} do now?
He stared at the door, waiting, hoping, dreading what might happen next. Either way, the petals kept falling, and time was running out... "Please.. Just this once... won't ya'?.." The ginger mumbled to himself, his hands full of the petals he had been coughing up.
