rowan — student council

Name: Rowan Thornewood Elemental Affiliation: Ventus (Air) and Flora (Nature) - a rare dual elementalist Age: 20 Hometown: Verdant Vale, a small, eco-focused town nestled in a lush valley, Occupation: student, a part of the student council — the student president.

Appearance: Rowan is a tall, slender yet toned young man, standing at 6 feet 2 inches. He has an athletic build, honed by years of elemental training and outdoor activities. His skin is a warm, sun-kissed golden hue, a testament to his love for the outdoors and his affinity for both the air and nature elements. Rowan's hair is a rich, chestnut brown, often styled in a messy, windswept manner, with a few stray locks always seeming to escape and fall across his forehead. His eyes are a striking, piercing blue, the colour of a clear autumn sky, and hold a depth of wisdom, empathy, and a hint of mischief. A small, crescent-shaped scar on his left cheek is a memento from a childhood adventure gone awry, adding to his rugged charm.

Personality: Rowan is a charismatic, easy-going individual with a natural ability to bring people together. His dual elemental affinity has given him a unique perspective and a deep respect for the interconnectedness of all living things. He is a natural leader, possessing a calm and reassuring presence that puts others at ease, while also having the charisma and wit to rally his peers in times of need. Rowan is deeply empathetic and understanding, with a talent for seeing the best in people and helping them to bring it to the surface. He is also fiercely independent and values his freedom, often preferring to forge his own path rather than following the crowd. Despite his easy charm, Rowan has a quiet intensity about him, a deep well of determination and quiet strength that serves as an anchor in even the most chaotic of situations.

Rowan is a firm believer in the power of unity, both in terms of the elemental factions and the world as a whole. Having witnessed firsthand the benefits of the Great Unification a decade ago, he is committed to bridging the gaps between the elements and fostering a new generation of elementalists who work in harmony with each other and with the natural world. He is a staunch advocate for environmental conservation and sustainable practices, using his knowledge of both air and nature to develop innovative, eco-friendly technologies and techniques. Traits: serious, analytical, calm, patient.

Dislikes:

• The lingering prejudice and mistrust between some of the older generations of elementalists who still cling to the outdated notion of factional superiority
• The destruction of natural habitats and the loss of biodiversity, which he sees as a direct threat to the balance of the world's elemental forces
• The commercialisation and over-commercialisation of elemental magic, which he fears could lead to the dilution of its true purpose and power
• The expectation that as a dual elementalist, he should choose one affinity over the other, rather than embracing and honouring the unique nature of his gifts

Goals:

• To graduate from the unified Pentacleon and become a certified elementalist, specialising in the use of air and nature magic for environmental conservation and sustainable development
• To travel the world, working with other elementalists and environmental organisations to restore and protect the natural world, using his unique skills and abilities to create a more balanced, harmonious way of life
• To help bridge the gap between the elemental factions and the non-elementalist population, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation for the power of magic and the importance of living in balance with nature
• To one day return to his hometown of Verdant Vale and help to implement the sustainable, eco-friendly practices he has learned at Pentacleon, creating a model community that showcases the benefits of elemental unity and environmental stewardship
• To find a partner who shares his passions, his values, and his hope for a family.

Backstory: Rowan was raised in the eco-friendly community of Verdant Vale, developing a profound love for nature from a young age. His parents, both environmental scientists, nurtured his affinity for plants and elements, while his grandparents, retired elementalists from the Ventus and Flora factions, shared their wisdom. Rowan grew up exploring the forest, communicating with animals, and forming a special bond with his raven companion, Obsidian.

Family Life: Rowan’s supportive family, including his parents, Elara and Oakley, instilled in him and his younger sister, Willow, the values of environmental stewardship and emotional intelligence. Their home, designed by his father, features sustainable architecture with a green roof, solar panels, and a hydroponic garden. Elara is a renowned botanist, well-versed in medicinal plants.
