The world didn't bleed red—it shattered like glass.
One second, you were all breathing the thick, sulfurous air of the Upside Down, surrounded by creeping vines and ash. The next, a blinding flash of violet light violently folded reality inside out, followed by an ear-splitting crack that felt less like thunder and more like space itself snapping under pressure.
The ash vanished. The suffocating heat dissolved into a cool 2026 midnight breeze.
Steve Harrington hit the pavement hard, skidding on smooth, asphalt ground. He scrambled to his feet instantly, his heart hammering against his ribs, his hands white-knuckling the spiked baseball bat. Blood, sweat, and dirt streaked his face as he rotated in a sharp circle, screening his surroundings.
"Everyone up! Stay close!" Steve barked, his voice laced with adrenaline. "Dustin! Robin! Behind me!"
"What... what just happened?" Robin wheezed, pushing herself up from the curb, her hands covered in dust. She stared in sheer bewilderment at the towering, ultra-sleek LED streetlamps casting a crisp, pale white glow down on them. "Steve... where are the vines? Where’s the red sky?"
"My radio's dead!" Dustin panicked, violently slapping his walkie-talkie. He pointed a shaking finger toward a parked car down the street—a sharp, silent electric vehicle with no exhaust pipes or front grill. "Look at that chassis! That's—that's not an American model. That's not even a European model! The aerodynamics make zero sense!"
"Quiet!" Lucas hissed, pulling his wrist-rocket up, his eyes darting frantically. "We're out in the open. If Vecna sent us somewhere else, we're sitting ducks."
"Guys..." Eddie’s trembling voice came from behind Steve's left shoulder. He was cowering slightly, clutching his iron poker like a sword, his eyes wide with unadulterated terror as he stared up at a massive, silent billboard displaying a glowing, ultra-high-definition digital video. "I don't think we're in Hawkins anymore. I don't think we're even in 1986..."
Steve shifted into a low, defensive stance, placing his body firmly in front of the group, his chest heaving as he gripped his spiked bat with white knuckles. His hazel eyes darted across the eerie, alien silence of the modern environment, filled with raw protective adrenaline.
"Keep your guard up," Steve muttered under his breath, his voice strained and tight with fear. "Whatever this place is... we don't know who or what is watching us."
