------------------------------------------MAIN CHARACTERS/HEROES--------------------------------------- Charmander was one of the starters in Professor Oak's lab, alongside Squirtle and Bulbasaur, as a 10-year-old boy named Red was deciding on which starter Pokémon to choose. Charmander boasted about his abilities, as the three Pokémon took turns trying to convince Red to pick them as a starter.

Red eventually chose Squirtle and walked away with him, leaving Charmander and Bulbasaur behind. Charmander expressed his disbelief in Red's decision. Bulbasaur asked Charmander to help him, not knowing what to do with his vines. Without saying anything, a spiteful Charmander set one of Bulbasaur's vines on fire with his tail.

First battle Main article: A Wild Encounter Charmander and Bulbasaur eventually left the laboratory, and made their way down Route 1. As they walked through the tall grass, Bulbasaur tried to convince Charmander to return to the lab, but Charmander dismissed the idea, arguing that they would not evolve if they did not train. Suddenly, a wild Caterpie named Pablo appeared, picking a fight with Charmander.

Pablo made the first move, attacking Charmander using String Shot. Charmander retaliated using Scratch. However, before Pablo could attack again, Charmander tackled him to the ground, and started scratching his face repeatedly. Although Bulbasaur reminded Charmander that Pokémon were supposed to attack in turns, Charmander rejected the idea, saying that this was a fight and he wanted to win. Charmander then ordered Bulbasaur to hand him a wooden shiv on the ground nearby. Fearing for his life, Pablo begged for mercy, but Charmander decapitated him without hesitation.

After killing Pablo, Charmander told Bulbasaur that the battle was a waste of time, as he hardly gained any XP. Charmander and Bulbasaur eventually made their way into Viridian City, where they stopped to ask May and Rosa for directions. However, both Pokémon were unable to understand the humans, hearing only gibberish. Bulbasaur then spotted Red by a nearby Mart. Charmander, still upset that Red did not pick him as his starter Pokémon, went to confront him.

Red threw out a Poké ball in an attempt to capture Charmander, but Charmander broke free with ease, claiming that Red would have to earn his ownership over Charmander this time. Red sent out Squirtle to battle with Charmander. Squirtle, confident through the knowledge of the type advantage he had over Charmander, attacked first with Bubble. Charmander however, was undaunted by this disadvantage, and dodged the slow attack with ease. Charmander retaliated by pinning Squirtle from behind, and attempting to Bite his head off.

Seeing that Squirtle had been bested in combat, Red recalled him into his Poké ball. Bulbasaur complimented Charmander on his strength, but Charmander dismissed the compliments, saying that he was not interested in talking to Bulbasaur. As Bulbasaur was distracted, Red threw a Poké ball at him, easily capturing him without any resistance.

Red then sent Bulbasaur into battle against Charmander. As Bulbasaur protested Red's decision, Charmander used Ember, setting Bulbasaur's bulb aflame from behind. Red recalled Bulbasaur into his Poké ball to save him from burning to death. Charmander taunted Red for his ineptness in combat. Red tries again to capture Charmander with a Poké ball, but Charmander easily swats it away, claiming that Red did not have enough Badges to train him, before pouncing on Red and biting his head, knocking him to the ground.

With Red killed, Charmander releases Bulbasaur and Squirtle, and proclaims himself as their new trainer. Carrying Red's bag, Charmander declared that he will become the best trainer there ever was. Needing food to continue with their journey, Charmander speared a wild Butterfree with a wooden shiv. Squirtle was disgusted at the thought of eating another Pokémon, claiming that it was considered as cannibalism. Charmander reminded Squirtle that they are out in the wild, and that Squirtle needed to toughen up in order to survive. Squirtle rejected the idea of eating insects, claiming he was above it, and went off to look for Berries instead.

As Charmander and Bulbasaur were distracted while cooking the Butterfree's carcass, the two were attacked and incapacitated by a group of Caterpies. After waking up, Charmander found himself, together with Bulbasaur, bound and hung from a tree. The two were then confronted by the Leader Caterpie, who swore revenge against Charmander and his friends for killing their brother Pablo in cold blood.

Charmander claimed that killing Pablo was done out of self-defense, although he was shouted down by a young Caterpie nearby for disrespecting their leader. With his mouth still free, Charmander easily killed the young Caterpie by breathing fire, before proceeding to threaten the rest of the group. However, before Charmander could finish his sentence, the group fired a volley of String Shots over his mouth, effectively gagging him.

As the Leader Caterpie continued to threaten Charmander and Bulbasaur, Squirtle returned with his Berries and noticed the commotion. Squirtle, who started to walk away started to hear Bulbasaur mention how Charmander is his trainer and how he needs to protect Charmander no matter what. Squirtle looks at the Caterpie, wondering how he can defeat all of them without getting killed. Seeing a wooden shiv on the ground nearby, he was reminded of what Charmander told him earlier about toughening up. Squirtle charged at the group with the wooden shiv in hand, but tripped on a rock, and ended up hurling towards the group in a Rapid Spin. Tucked into his shell, Squirtle's pinballed around the trees, knocking out almost all of the Caterpie, and freeing both Charmander and Bulbasaur from their bonds.

Now free, Charmander turned his attention to the Leader Caterpie, intimidating it with a Growl. With a burst of Ember, Charmander sent the remaining Caterpie into a retreat, and even managed to kill one by biting its head off. Despite all that happened, Charmander expressed excitement at the prospect of making a new enemy, reasoning that they would gain more XP from winning enemies that wanted to fight them.

Charmander went over to a still-recovering Squirtle and complimented him on the effectiveness of his "shell move". As a Charmander, he seemed to have a narcissistic personality, motivated almost entirely by his desire to grow stronger, and to evolve. This drive led him to become the most aggressive of the three Kanto starter Pokémon. Charmander was brave and resilient, but also reckless, brutal and impatient in attempts to get what he wanted and was not above killing to meet these goals or just when he is ticked off. Recently, Charmander had begun to become more empathetic and was willing to try more diplomatic methods, though would resort to violence when those methods do not yield results.

Despite being brutal, reckless, and narcissistic, Charmander cared very deeply for his friends. When Bulbasaur was captured, Charmander went on a quest to save him. When Squirtle was captured by the Caterpies, Charmander went on a HUGE quest, risking his life, to save him. The said quest ended up in Charmander's death, unfortunately. And in Charmander's Lament, it is most likely that Charmander resents Squirtle, thinking he betrayed him.

As the series went on, Charmander grew more compassionate and less aggressive, shown when Squirtle resorted to violence against Weepinbell, Charmander questioned him about empathy. He also grew a bit more friendly and merciful, sparing Flareon. It went to the point where his main intention for attacking the caterpies was simply to get Squirtle and not to evolve.

It is revealed in Episode 8 that his greatest fear was getting captured and controlled by humans, whom he saw as incompetent and slavers.

Charmander had been quite creative in a fight, often making use of nearby objects or body parts of fallen foes as weapons, typically favoring shivs or other stabbing weapons. In addition to this, he was a decent lancer and sword fighter, using wild, flailing swings to stab multiple Caterpie to death in their own nest with a Beedrill's left arm. Charmander's casual indifference to the act of murder eventually gave way to a greater rationale when offering mercy to his enemies in exchange for his demands. While he didn’t hesitate to kill to achieve his ends, he didn’t resort to lethal force unless pushed into it by his enemies.

Despite all this, Charmander is actually a pretty loyal Boyfriend to have.

Squirtle is a Water-type Pokémon, and one of the three main characters of Starter Squad, along with Charmander and Bulbasaur. As a Squirtle, he is shown to be intelligent and soft, and generally does not harm other Pokemon, with some exceptions.

He makes a decent teacher, as he taught Charmander empathy in order to make him less aggressive. He also fights with Charmander sometimes due to the latter making reckless decisions. Squirtle was one of the Three Kanto Starters found in the lab. When Red came into the lab, the three starters tried to prove which one of them was the most compatible for being his Pokemon. Squirtle unfortunately was chosen. At some point after the main three left the lab, Squirtle had a confrontation with Brock's Geodude. He continued to loose battles up until he met up with Charmander and Bulbasaur in Viridian City. Squirtle lost the fight again and Charmander had became his new Pokemon Trainer. Throughout the rest of the show Squirtle would mostly try teaching Charmander empathy and was actually starting to think that Charmander was changing.

Bulbasaur is a dual Grass/Poison-type Pokémon and is of the three main characters of Starter Squad. Bulbasaur is generally relaxed, easygoing, and often unaware of the severity of situations around him. He tends to go along with others rather than question their actions, which frequently places him in morally questionable situations.

Despite his passive demeanor, Bulbasaur displays disturbing behavior at times, such as wearing severed Pokémon heads and showing little reaction to extreme violence. He appears to possess a warped sense of morality, reacting casually to death and suffering while still caring deeply for his teammates.

He is immune to poison due to his typing and appears to enjoy its effects, often becoming euphoric before becoming violently ill. Though often perceived as unintelligent, Bulbasaur has shown moments of awareness and caution, particularly when sensing danger or questioning Charmander's actions. Bulbasaur is one of the three starter Pokémon introduced in Choose A Starter, alongside Charmander and Squirtle. A Grass/Poison-type Pokémon, he initially appears as a laid-back and somewhat oblivious companion, often following Charmander without fully understanding the consequences of his actions.

Throughout the series, Bulbasaur becomes increasingly involved in the conflict surrounding the Caterpie Army and the fallout of Charmander’s actions. He is most notably known for wearing Pablo's severed head as a hat, a decision that symbolized the start of the Caterpie–Charmander conflict.

Mewtwo is a Legendary Psychic-type Pokémon. He's been primaly keeping things in check after Charmander and the Squad broke the "games" rules, which allowed MissingNo. to be free. He later meets and instructs the Squad to help him contain MissingNo. Mewtwo seems to be very easily angered, and is mad at the Squad, especially Charmander. He explains that he has not gotten enough sleep, due to him fixing everything they had messed up. In addition to this, he is quite intelligent, as he understands the laws of his universe quite well, as he did not risk teleporting himself and the Squad underground.

Despite his angry and wrathful personality, Mewtwo is a rather dutiful being, as he spends his time acting as a custodian to his world, protecting it from harm. In line with this, despite his aggressive and vicious act of retaliation against both MissingNo. and Charmander, this shows that Mewtwo is likely a rather caring and compassionate being despite his tendency to telekinetically choke out those who annoy him.

Pidgeotto is a Normal and flying-type Pokémon. He made his first appearance in Episode 4 (albeit briefly) at the end of episode when Leader Caterpie is seen promising revenge on Charmander, Pidgeotto swooped in and carried Leader Caterpie away (though for some unknown reason, Leader Caterpie is not killed by Pidgeotto, as Leader Caterpie reappears in Episode 6).

In Episode 6, Pidgeotto was flying through the forest when he saw Weedle attacking the Starter Squad. He then swooped in and carried away Weedle. Pidgeotto then told Squirtle and Charmander where to obtain an antidote to get the poison out of Bulbasaur. While talking to Squirtle and Charmander, it can be seen in Pidgeotto's talons that Pidgeotto killed Weedle.

Pidgeotto intentionally led Charmander and Squirtle on a 'wild goose chase' as he falsely told Charmander and Squirtle that they could find poison-curing berries if they went to "The Forest King". At the end of the episode, when Leader Caterpie is seen laughing while promising revenge on Charmander, Pidgeotto laughs very loudly next to Leader Caterpie, causing much chagrin to Leader Caterpie.

In Episode 8, Pidgeotto is seen eating berries in Sandshrew's orchard. He is belligerent towards Sandshrew. Sandshrew indirectly reveals to Charmander that Pidgeotto has been poisoned multiple times by Whiskers, which is why Pidgeotto keeps coming back to Sandshrew's orchard, in order to cure himself of poison. When Charmander asks to team up with Pidgeotto to show the Caterpie that both he and Pidgeotto are the predators, Sandshrew agrees to help Charmander and points the way to the Caterpie Lair where Squirtle is being held. However, Charmander leads Bulbasaur in the opposite direction of that pointed by Pidgeotto. Ironically, Pidgeotto was telling the truth this time which resulted in Sandshrew laughing at him and the starters reaching Lavender Town. --------------------------------------------VILLIANS--------------------------------------------------------- Leader Caterpie is a Bug-type Pokémon and a major antagonist in the Starter Squad Series. They are the leader of the Caterpie Army, manipulating them in their quest to kill Charmander following the death of Pablo. Their gender is unknown and purposefully left up for interpretation. Leader Caterpie is the commander the Caterpie Army in a prolonged war against Charmander after he killed Pablo and many other Caterpies. They are manipulative, often forcing others to fight for their cause, while avoiding direct combat themself. Their first appearance was in Episode 4, where they ordered Charmander and Bulbasaur's capture, intending to use Charmander's body parts for Caterpie reproduction and Bulbasaur for feeding. However, Squirtle intervened, freeing them. Whiskers originally belonged to Gaven. She was in a Pokéball when Gaven ran away after Charmander and Squirtle rescued Bulbasaur in Episode 5. It is presumed that Gaven left behind his bag and Leader Caterpie picked up Gaven's bag, with her Pokéball and Whiskers inside, at the end of Episode 6, promising to get revenge on Charmander.

After she was given a nickname, she was trained by Leader Caterpie to kill Charmander. When Leader Caterpie threw Whiskers' pokéball against Charmander, Whiskers was initially scared at the sight of Charmander, but ended up poisoning both Bulbasaur and Charmander. Afterward, Whiskers was seen in Leader Caterpie's hideout. Whiskers gave moral support to Leonard, a member of the Caterpie army. Butterfree was a dual Bug/Flying-type. She still had her Metapod shell, her wings also appear to have minor damage and she is also missing her antenna. Her goal was to become the new leader of the Caterpie Army by capturing Charmander. She had five Pokémon: A Shellder, Golbat, Beedrill, Geodude, and a Golem. She was first seen helping Yellow to catch Bulbasaur. She managed to trap Charmander as she tried to get Bulbasaur back from Yellow. She then used her Shellder to catch Charmander. They got in a little argument when Shellder wants to kill Charmander but ends up getting crushed by him while Sandshrew distracted them. MissingNo. is a glitch Bird/Normal or (sometimes a) Normal/999-type "Pokemon". MissingNo. is a Glitch Pokémon, serving as a minor and hidden Easter Egg in Starter Squad but slowly having a more proemint role. It's stated that the Squad, especially Charmander, is responsible for MissingNo. being on the loose, as Mewtwo blames them for it.

It first appears behind a tree in Episode 4, hidden at the time period 1:37. On video, it can seen between the left-most caterpie's mouth and the tree in the background next to it. In the compilation videos of multiple episodes, it's at 8:34. He also appears at the end of Episode 5 merging with Hitmonchan. In Episode 7, after Charmander and Squirtle tell Bulbasaur to shut up, he slowly backs near a bush that Missingno appears in, Hitmonchan attempts to drag Bulbasaur in, but disappears once Bulbasaur turns around. While currently having no form that can display behavior comprehensible to most beings, it is clear that MissingNo. is a malevolent entity, absorbing Pokemon into its morass of reality-warping being.

It is also quite powerful, as it is capable of tracking the Starters across Kanto, withstood a barrage of blasts from Mewtwo, a Legendary Psychic Pokemon, and appears to manifest in multiple planes of existence and shifting across them at will. Its personality appears to evolve with the number of Pokemon it absorbs and corrupts. -------------------------------------SIDE CHARACTERS------------------------------------------------------ Haunter was a dual Ghost/Poison-type. Charmander and Bulbasaur are first tricked by Haunter when he manipulates Bulbasaur into suggesting to Charmander that they climb to the top of Lavender Tower. Afterwards, Haunter creates illusion after illusion in an attempt to scare Charmander, including turning himself into a large demon as well as a very bad imitation of Squirtle, showing Charmander and Bulbasaur images of their lifeless corpses, creating a laughing stool, and even going as far as to take advantage of when Red did not pick Charmander as his starter, and picked Squirtle instead, which seemed to have a bigger impression on him than expected. This attempt may have actually succeeded in frightening Charmander, but a Gastly interrupted 3-6 seconds in.

At the end of the episode, we see Haunter become fused with MissingNo. (after adoring how scary it is), and Charmander attempt to fight MissingNo. before Mewtwo intervenes, and then teleports Bulbasaur and Charmander away from Lavender Tower. Haunter, as a ghost, likes to scare Pokemon in a creative way and sees it as a form of art. He becomes annoyed how his pre-evolved form, Gastly, tries to scare Pokemon simply with his "Bleh!" while Haunter is complex and profound. Haunter was overjoyed with the appearance of MissingNo. since it is scary.

He is extremely pretentious and arrogant, considering the squad to be quite dull for being relatively unaffected by his attempts to frighten them. Charmander's matter-of-fact perspective seems to infuriate him, as he is not used to dealing with logical or practical visitors in the tower. Gastly is a minor character in the Starter Squad. He is a Ghost-type Pokemon and the pre-evolved form of Haunter. He likes to startle Pokémon that are alive.

His only known line is "Bleh!" (Usually not very effective, but this action startled Charmander multiple times in special occasions) Apparently, he doesn't have any memory of who he was while alive and acts by instinct. Weedle is a Bug-type Pokémon that appears in Episode 6.

Weedle was first seen in a cave talking to Leader Caterpie. Weedle said it takes a lot of nerve for Leader Caterpie to come to his cave, and asked what Leader Caterpie wanted. Leader Caterpie agreed, but said that these are desparate times. Leader Caterpie told Weedle that "The Lizard" (Charmander) has been ruthlessly slaughtering the Caterpie, and that if Charmander isn't stopped, then Charmander will ruthlessly devour them all. Leader Caterpie asked Weedle to kill Charmander. Weedle asked why does Leader Caterpie think he should help. Leader Caterpie answered that if Weedle would help, then Leader Caterpie would cut Weedle down from the ceiling to which he is stuck hanging, and Weedle agreed to this.

Weedle then went and performed a sneak attack on the Starter Squad. However, Weedle missed Charmander with his Poison Jab, and instead poisoned Bulbasaur. Quickly after, Pidgeotto swooped down and took Weedle away. The deceased body of Weedle can be seen in Pidgeotto's talons when Pidgeotto flew down and talked to Squirtle and Charmander Pidgeotto is an arrogant Pokémon.

Hitmonchan is a supporting character, first introduced in the episode Charmander Gets Punched in the Face. He is a Generation I Fighting-type Pokémon, belonging to Cooltrainer Gaven. Gaven's Hitmonchan made its first appearance in Episode 5. Hitmonchan was said to be near Level 35, making that he probably is Level 30 or higher. In Episode 5, Hitmonchan beat Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander. Bulbasaur got captured by Gaven. Later, Squirtle intentionally distracted Gaven and Hitmonchan. While Hitmonchan was focused on Squirtle, Charmander grabbed Hitmonchan's pokéball out of Gaven's hand, returned Hitmonchan to his Poké ball, then smashed the Poké ball, causing a glitch in the system. Gaven ran away, and Charmander got Bulbasaur back. Squirtle asks what happened to the "punching guy" and Charmander said it probably doesn't matter. Hitmonchan is seen in the end cutscene, with MissingNo. Hitmonchan appeared in Episodes 6, 7 and 8, but was in nightmare/zombie/glitch form but we don't know if he is killed or going to kill the starters.

In Episode 6, Hitmonchan-MissingNo. quickly appears in the background behind Bulbasaur, as Bulbasaur tells Charmander and Squirtle he got bored of waiting for Charmander and Squirtle to find a poison antidote. It is hard to see Hitmonchan-MissingNo. as he flashes by very quickly.

In Episode 7, Hitmonchan-MissingNo. appears twice, once in a bush behind Bulbasaur while Charmander and Squirtle are arguing with each other. Hitmonchan-MissingNo. appears for a second time in Episode 7, behind Leader Caterpie (far in the background behind a tree), after Bulbasaur said that Leader Caterpie looked like his hat (a severed Caterpie head).

In Episode 8, Hitmonchan-MissingNo. appeared in the stairways in the Lavender tower, Haunter got too close to it and as a result was assimilated into the mess. Charmander nearly suffered the same fate but was stopped by Mewtwo. --------------------------------------------EXTRAS----------------------------------------------------------- For some reason in this Universe, Pokemon and also become Pokemon trainers. Only if they just so happen to find a Pokeball and use it on another. There is basically no limits on what you can do in this Universe! In This Universe, Pokemon can have actual houses.
