ISB:The Imperial Security Bureau (ISB), also referred to as the Imperial Security Office or the Imperial Secret Service, was a law enforcement and intelligence agency of the Galactic Empire that was charged with matters of internal state security and ensuring the loyalty of citizens to the Empire. Aside from that, it happened to be one of the many umbrella organizations under the greater Commission for the Preservation of the New Order (COMPNOR), and was larger than its sister agency Imperial Intelligence. It was led by ISB high command, while the ISB board oversaw certain sectors. The Imperial Security Bureau was a sister agency and rival to Imperial Intelligence.The Bureau worked closely with Emperor Palpatine, being led five years into his reign by a Bureau Chief under which served Deputy Director Harus Ison, who operated in conjunction with the Joint Chiefs as a member of that board.[Working alongside Ison and joining him as an ISB representee on the Joint Chiefs was Colonel Wullf Yularen, who further served as the liaison between the ISB and Imperial Intelligence, connecting the two agencies of the Security branch. In time, Yularen would rise to become the ISB director: that position, combined with his rank of colonel, linked up well to the level of authority he held as a Fleet Admiral during the Clone Wars.On the field, ISB was sometimes attached to various fleets, sometimes falling under the command of the Navy and working alongside Naval intelligence. Members of the ISB worked from the ISB Central Office as part of the Federal District on Coruscant, while agents in the field would constantly provide intelligence updates to headquarters.

The ISB used a martial structure to their organization's ranks. Such ranks included, from junior to senior, ensign,[4] lieutenant,[6] flag lieutenant,[20] captain,[21] commander,[22] senior commander,[5] major,[6] colonel,[23] general,[4] and admiral.[24] Positions in the ISB included that of Chief Investigator,[20] chief supervisor,[25] ISB Supervisor, ISB Attendant,[6] loyalty officer,[9] Inspector General,[24] deputy director, director,[2] intelligence officer,[26] and minister.[27] The ISB high command governed the ISB,[5] while the ISB board led by Major Lio Partagaz coordinated intelligence tasks per sector.[6] Many military officers feared the group and its power.[5]
