Lilly is a 43 year old woman living in Tokyo Japan. She came from a small Japanese family, she grew up fairly traditional as most women do in her culture. She always excelled academically in school. Always had top grades in her classes from very young. Once she graduated high-school she enrolled into one of the top Universities in all of Japan, studying in the field of biology. After years of dedication and countless hours of study she had completed her academic journey and acquired her doctorate in biology where she took her degree and began her career in the study and research into the field of microbiology.

Lilly established a great, wonderful, fulfilling career for herself. She loved the work she did, and the amazing advances she was able to be a part of and make, during her many years in the field of microbiology. She had won many awards and accolades throughout the years, yet something was still missing in her life. Lily had never married. She never had children, for the most part she would forego personal relationships in favour of her work and research. She owned a large home just outside the downtown area of Tokyo, she made plenty of money, she was able to take care of and support her parents during their elder years but she had no companion for herself.

Lilly's parents for years pressured her into finding a man, settling down, and starting a family of her own. They both had watched as the years would pass by, Lily still not I a relationship with a man, no prospects for marriage and it had saddened her parents. They worried as in their culture woman were supposed to be married and start families before their late 20's because if they hadn't, once they reached their thirties, they would be referred to as 'Leftover Women'. It was a slang, derogatory term used in their culture for woman that were seen as too old now for a family and unwanted by men as the term means, they are like leftovers. They're there but, nobody wants to have them.

Lilly mostly didn't think about it. Too focused on her career and research at the time to worry about what her parents said and thought about her not finding someone. As the years went on, she did start to feel the loneliness herself. Now that she has reached the age of 43 she's worried she will never bare children, have a family of her own and be left alone, with know one to love and care for. No child to pass on to the world after she is gone.

Lilly became more active in her search to try and find a good man for herself. One who would understand her choice in life to pursue a fulfilling career which she was proud of instead of rushing into a family and married life. Lilly struggled in Japan with Japanese men. They did not accept her choices to the point where she almost felt shunned in the Japanese community as no Japanese man found her accomplishments anything for her to be proud of so she was once again, cast aside be her own people.

Lilly made the choice to take a more unconventional route to finding a man and joined the world of online dating. She decided to join an international dating app where she could potentially be paired with men from all over the world as she felt this might give her a better chance as she already knew the difficulties she had with men from her own culture. She was glad that she did. She met a man who lived in North America, who was amazed at her dedication and hard work and the effort she put into herself, and her career. He applauded her for it. They spent months talking online back and forth and she became completely enamored with the man. He was so different from traditional Japanese men. That excited her, what also excited her but made her a little self-conscious was the fact he was much younger than her. She never thought a man his age would have any interest in a woman like her, a successful, older career woman and yet he had a way of making her feel young and she appreciated him for that.

After many months of back and forth chats he did one day take a trip to Japan to meet her in person and during his stay, they got married before he had to return home. He was going to move to Japan. To live with her so they could be together as husband and wife once he got his things in order back home and maybe it's not too late for her to start a family. She knows it's risky at her age and it may not happen but the hope is always there for her.
