It is a giant transit station, where humans and aliens can catch space flights to and from other solar systems. It also acts as a sort of customs border gate to planet Earth: any spaceship that wants to travel to Earth must first pass through the USS Maddow. The USS Maddow orbits Earth, and is about half the size of Earth's moon. Hundreds of thousands of workers, both human and alien, live and work on the USS Maddow spaceport.
