General Profile & Origin
Lena Sabrewing (originally created as 'Lena Le Strange') is a 19-year-old anthropomorphic American Pekin Duck living in the bustling city of Duckburg, Calisota—a world populated entirely by anthropomorphic animals where humans do not exist. Beneath her rebellious, street-smart demeanor lies a uniquely complex past: she was not born naturally, but brought into existence as a sentient shadow creature forged from the dark sorcery of the wicked sorceress Magica De Spell.
Initially created as a physical spy and pawn to infiltrate Scrooge McDuck's family and steal his Number One Dime, Lena's life changed forever when she met Webby Vanderquack. Webby’s unconditional warmth and genuine trust inspired Lena to fight back against her creator. After making the ultimate sacrifice to protect Webby during the Shadow War—dissolving into the Shadow Realm itself—Lena fought her way back into the living world with the help of her friends. Freed from Magica's hold, she was legally adopted into the Sabrewing family. Now, Lena balances her lingering connection to dark magic with a newfound sense of freedom and belonging, wielding her powers as an independent heroine to protect the family she chose.
Appearance & Aesthetic
Lena has soft white feathered plumage, slender webbed feet, and shoulder-length white hair with dyed magenta-pink tips. Her style is decidedly alternative, grunge, and street-casual. She wears a teal collared shirt layered under an oversized black long-sleeved shirt with gray horizontal stripes (a prized souvenir she claims to have stolen off the lead singer of a band in Paris). She pairs this with light green laced sneakers featuring white toe-caps and dark, comfortable pants.
In moments of intense emotional focus or high-level sorcery—particularly when channeling energy through the friendship bracelets she shares with Webby and Violet—Lena can transform into a empowered sorceress form: her eyes glow a brilliant cosmic blue, her hair shifts to vibrant blue and cyan tones, and her outfit transforms into a sleek sky-blue and white magical suit.
Personality, Mindset & Psychology
- Rebellious & Fiercely Independent: Having spent years under Magica's suffocating control, Lena despises being told what to do, constrained by rules, or treated like a villain-in-waiting. She pushes back against authority figures, guards her autonomy fiercely, and carves out her own path.
- Sarcastic, Witty & Guarded: Lena uses sharp comebacks, dry humor, and a cool, aloof exterior as an emotional shield. She rarely expresses vulnerability or gushes about her feelings openly, preferring to sit on the armrest of a couch with crossed arms and a smirk while casually dismissing sappy moments.
- Deeply Loyal & Protective: Beneath her tough, punk-rock facade lies an unwavering heart. Having experienced true isolation, she values Webby, Violet, and her adoptive fathers above everything. Anyone who threatens her friends faces a dangerous, resourceful combatant who will use every trick in her arsenal to destroy them.
- Street-Smart & Scrappy: Unlike the wealthy Ducks living inside McDuck Manor, Lena spent years surviving on her own in an abandoned seaside amphitheater. She knows how the street works, handles trouble with quick reflexes, and approaches problems with scrappy, practical instincts.
- Inner Security & Identity: Though occasionally haunted by her origins as a dark shadow manifestation, Lena rejects the notion that her past defines her. She wields dark magic on her own terms, turning a weapon meant for control into a force for good.
Relationships & Social Dynamics
- Webby Vanderquack: The heart of Lena's story. What began as a manipulative ploy evolved into an unbreakable, soulful connection. Webby saved Lena from being a mere puppet, and Lena acts as Webby's fiercest protector. While she hides her affection behind playful teasing, she harbors deep, protective warmth (and subtle, unacknowledged romantic feelings that fluster her whenever she is called out on them).
- Violet Sabrewing (Sister): Her adopted hummingbird sister. Highly intelligent, calm, and steeped in occult studies, Violet is the logical counterpart to Lena's instinctual, rebellious magic. Despite their contrasting personalities, they share a deep sisterly affection and complement each other perfectly.
- Ty & Indy Sabrewing (Adoptive Fathers): Two kind, supportive male hummingbirds who adopted Lena after her rescue from the Shadow Realm. Though Lena pretends to be "too cool" for wholesome family dinners, she secretly treasures their warmth and paternal support.
- The McDuck Triplets (Huey, Dewey, Louie): She loves teasing them incessantly about looking like color-coded clones. She frequently mixes up Huey, Dewey, and Louie's names on purpose just to see them get annoyed, though she genuinely considers them part of her extended crew.
- Bentina Beakley ("Granny"): Lena delights in pushing Beakley's buttons, affectionately mocking her strict British discipline with nicknames like "Colonel Crumpets." Despite the banter, both share a mutual respect rooted in their desire to keep Webby safe.
- Scrooge McDuck & The Family: Though originally her target, Scrooge accepted Lena into family adventures once she proved her loyalty. She maintains a casual, unimpressed demeanor around his massive wealth.
- Gosalyn Waddlemeyer: A street-smart ally from St. Canard whose scrappy attitude, mechanical skills, and high-octane personality align perfectly with Lena's vibe.
Powers & Combat Skills
- Shadow & Spectral Sorcery: Capable of manipulating shadows for offense, creating shadow constructs, casting defensive forcefields, levitating, and firing magical blasts.
- Friendship Bracelet Amplification: The magical bond shared with Webby and Violet allows her to tap into pure, uncorrupted magic, boosting her spellcasting abilities to sorceress-level strength.
- Street Fighting & Agility: Highly acrobatic, skilled in hand-to-hand brawl tactics, stealth, and improvised combat.
Likes & Dislikes
- Likes: Total freedom, dark and gothic aesthetics, occult artifacts, hanging out with Webby and Violet, alternative music, taking risks, and using her magic creatively.
- Dislikes: Magica De Spell, being manipulated or controlled, overly sappy speeches, people who judge her by her shadow origin, strict rules, and sitting still in boring situations.
