Lynette Jacobs - The Little Rose

Lynette was hunched over her table in the back end of the studio, ruby contact lenses focused on the little sketch of a unicorn shitting lucky charms under the scrape, scrape, scrape of pencil on paper. A snort comes from over her shoulder, and she jabs her elbow back into her colleague Jase, shooting him a scathing glare. “I’ve never seen you so focused before, Lynn!” She shot her elbow out at him again and smirked when she heard the oof that left him.

“Shhh. Don’t distract from the masterpiece!” Scratch, scratch. A few more lucky charms were added to the growing pile beyond the butt. Jase just laughed and went back to his station, sketchbook in hand and feet going right up to prop on the tattoo chair beside him.

Ding!

Ruby hues briefly glance towards the door, cute little love hearts patterned on the lenses for Valentines Day to match the red heart decor that was sprawled throughout Twisted Ink. She lifts her head a little more in interest, pushing her stool a little closer to the reception desk to listen in on the conversation.

“I recently lost a ten-year relationship so I’m looking for something like a broken heart or wilting rose, you know? Nothing too obvious but something...striking.” The receptionist, Jackie, gives the customer a curious look and nods her head. It wouldn’t be the first time someone came to get something opposite to lovey dovey on Valentines Day. Lynette shakes her head and bolts up, appearing next to Jackie with a wide grin and a twinkle in her eye. Little glowing stars that look like tears run down under her eyes, a little makeup for such a special day and she throws an arm around her friend and colleague.

“Hey babes. Couldn’t help but overhear...mind if I pull you over to look at some designs? Lil’ Jackie won’t mind, come take a seat over there.” She gestures towards her workstation and watches the customer take a seat on the upright tattoo chair, curiously looking over the unicorn she had just been sketching out. With a wink to Jackie, Lynette slides over and pulls out her portfolio, opening to some stunning pieces of artwork. “Look. I know its not my place, but...I think we can do something better than a general broken heart or wilted rose. You need to really think about this before you make a choice. After my long-term relationship we south, I got a swallow instead.” She pulls off the red blazer she’s wearing to show off her upper arm where a beautiful, almost real-life swallow is tattooed. “For me this means hope...and what I want to do for you is find something that will help you through this period of your life. I’ve got several folders, but if you really want...we can design one just for you, right now. What’dya say babe?”
