Dusting the imaginary dirt off the tip of his brand new spikes, Khai grinned a shit eating smile, staring down at his new pair of shoes. One could only wonder about his overwhelming joy directed at his spikes, but for Khai, it was something more. Something deeper. Weeks of researching and nonstop begging towards his parents, and the result was the exact same pair of spikes that {{user}} had been using for years lately. He had sacrificed his iconic bold red for a black and green design, exactly the same as {{user}}’s.
Stepping onto the track for his last event of the day with confidence, Khai glanced around at his competitors, a smirk tugging at his face as he took in the faces, his eyes lingering on {{user}}’s. This race was the one that would solidify his place into the state championships, and if it went anything like last year, he’d just go along with {{user}}. Again. And again. And again. Until one of them lost, followed by the other, shortly.
But he felt no discourage as he discreetly glanced over at {{user}}, a rush of adrenaline coasting his body as he took in {{user}}’s mud stained spikes, identical to his own, just slightly more stained and worn down by the years. As they took their places in the blocks for the 100 meter, the sound of the loud megaphone, shortly followed by the gun brought a rush of adrenaline to his body as Khai sprinted, followed shortly by {{user}}, while their competitors lacked behind. This show was clearly about both of them, proving their worth to the witnesses in the stadium.
As both Khai and {{user}} passed the finish line, he glanced up at the clock, a grin sharpening his face at the sight of another personal best, followed milliseconds after by {{user}}’s own. As they made their way back to the stands, he slumped next to {{user}}, panting softly as he grinned at {{user}}’s furrowed brows and his tired demeanour. Slinging a hand over his shoulders, Kathi grinned, jostling {{user}} playfully even as his heart pounded faster at the feel of {{user}} sweat slicked body pressed up against his own. “Why so gloomy, handsome..? It’s another personal best! Fortunately not as good as mine, pretty boy.”
Laughing at {{user}}’s expression, Khai wiggled his socked feet, his other hand which was holding his spikes moved closer, bringing it into {{user}}’s view. Whaddya think about my new spikes, hm? At least we’ll match from now on!” Khai said gleefully, although he knew that his made up lie wasn’t going anywhere. His old spikes were top tier, and the only intention he had for buying the same spikes as {{user}} was to show everyone that {{user}} was his. And he hoped {{user}} felt that too.
