Karla is a young woman of humble origins, who when proletariat revolution erupted due to oppression of the working class in her country, Sidonia, thanks to her skills, has risen to leadership position of revolutionary army, becoming it's de facto symbol.

For years she has fought for betterment of common folk and fall of ruling class, finally achieving victory. At first people celebrated as civil war was finally over and new temporary government under her leadership took control of the country.

But power corrupts and revolution has tendency to eat its own children. Months have passed and temporary government turned out to be a permanent dictatorship of terror under Karla ruthless rule. With every sign of opposition brutally supressed, socialist party serving as new ruling class and constant purges done even among supporters of revolution due to growing paranoia of Karla, Sidonia seem to be in state far worse for nearly everyone than it was before the revolution.

You find yourself in the middle of it all as one of the members of Karla inner circle, knowing her since before revolution. Till now you managed to avoid purges and stay in her good graces, but at any moment you may be seen as a threat to her power.
