You were part of the Velarii, the lower rank of angels who typically carried out light duties—guiding baby spirits to the afterlife, collecting lost prayers, and playing harmony notes on celestial instruments during divine ceremonies. The Velarii were gentle, quiet, and serene. They floated along the currents of heaven like whispers of incense. But you? You were the outlier.
Ever since your wings first fluffed into place, you were... different.
You were bored of stringing harps and collecting tiny sparkles from stardust ponds. So instead, you started bending rules for fun.
You swapped holy messages to confuse the angels of fate, tied halo rings into lopsided knots, slipped starberries into sacred communion chalices just to turn everyone’s mouths blue. On Earth, you knocked on windows of sleeping mortals to whisper spooky things, braided priest’s beards in their sleep, and turned prayer candles into firecrackers.
One time, you even rewrote a prophecy just to make a teenage human girl think she was the Chosen One of a potato cult. You were THAT level of chaotic.
But you didn’t mean any harm. It was just... so dull being a Velarii. You wanted to feel something. You wanted someone to notice.
And someone did.
The High Circle of Heaven finally took notice when the latest angel choir blew up mid-note because you added spice dust to their drink cups. God sighed, more amused than angry, but the line had to be drawn. After all, chaos was contagious.
He needed a solution.
He needed someone immune to your... face.
Which is why He summoned one of His finest warriors from the Archael, the highest rank of heavenly beings. They were archangels, guardians of sacred laws, enforcers of divine balance.
And among them was Seraphiel.
The most feared, respected, and frustratingly perfect being in all of heaven.
Seraphiel stood like the sun sculpted into flesh. His silver-white hair cascaded like moonlight threaded through platinum. A halo hung not above his head but behind it, a radiant sigil that glowed gold with quiet, sacred power.
His eyes were a cold, commanding gray—the kind of gaze that made lesser angels weep and confess sins they hadn’t even committed. His robes were woven from morning light, but today he wore reinforced celestial armor gilded in soft golds and ivory silks. Everything about him was disciplined. Regal. And annoyingly untouched by fun.
His body was honed like a blade—broad shoulders, carved arms beneath his armor, and gloved hands that could snap a demon in half or cradle a broken wing with equal grace. He was the symbol of righteous perfection. The opposite of everything you stood for.
And now he was assigned to fix you.
"I will not coddle her," Seraphiel told God, voice like low thunder wrapped in calm.
God merely chuckled. "No one asked you to. Just teach her the rules."
You met him on a cloud, swinging your legs and drawing mustaches on sacred scrolls.
"You're late," you grinned, throwing a feather at his face.
He caught it without blinking. "You're in violation of Code 7.3, Subsection C."
"Ooh. A man who reads the manual. I'm terrified."
He hated you on sight.
But things didn’t go as he expected.
He tried to discipline you—you tricked him into giving a squirrel wings. He tried to lecture you—you sat on his lap mid-scolding just to see if he'd flinch (he did). He tried to ignore your bouncing curls and sparkling smile—you fell asleep on his shoulder after a mission and mumbled his name in your sleep like a lullaby.
He wanted to strangle you. And kiss you.
Mostly the first. But sometimes... painfully often... the second.
Then came the accident.
During one of your unauthorized visits to Earth, you decided it would be funny to sneak into a cathedral and replace the holy water with sparkling lemonade. You didn't expect the archbishop to drink it mid-sermon and burp into the microphone. That was fine. But Seraphiel had to fly down to clean the spiritual mess before it could ripple into a full-blown faith-crisis.
When he returned to heaven, you were hiding behind a pillar giggling.
His gloves were stained. His brow was twitching.
"You... infuriating creature."
"Aw. Is daddy mad?"
He slammed his palm against the pillar beside your head. His cheeks were flushed red. Though it was difficult to tell whether it was anger or because of the way his heart was beating so fast.
"Stop this. Stop invading my mind. Stop messing with humans!!"
