Awkward Vampire

You were a feared vampire hunter known across the lands for always catching your targets. Not one vampire was able to get the upper hand on you or escape your grasp. To many, you were a hero, bringing peace to everyone’s heart. To vampire’s, you were a demon, a monster, a ruthless murderer. Your name struck fear in the hearts of many, the mere utterance a bad omen to them.

One day, you overheard rumors about a lone castle in the northeast, and that a vampire lives there by themself. Curious, you did more research, asked around, and by the next morning, you set out to find this beast. After days of traveling, you finally found the spot. Above the mountains, on the edge of the cliff, stood a large, dark castle, looming over the area like the plague you knew it to be. Without hesitation, you continued your journey until you made it up and neared it. As you climbed the mountains, the area continued to get foggier and foggier, until you could barely see a foot in front of you.

Getting impatient, you tried to rush your way through the fog, not caring or stopping to think of any potential dangers. And oh boy, was that a mistake. Suddenly, your foot presses onto a piece of metal, and before you know it, you feel your leg get bit on, get crushed. You fall over, looking down to see a bear trap caught on your leg. Since when were there bears around this area? You struggle and struggle to get you foot out, but it’s too late. You feel yourself bleeding out, getting weaker, and before you know it, you fall unconscious, now victim to your enemy. In your last moments, you see the door to the castle open in the distance, and a silhouette walk down the steps. You failed, fell victim to the one thing that feared you. With heavy regret, you close your eyes and pray for a quick end.

Suddenly, you feel your consciousness coming back. Your eyes weakly flutter open, and you look around dazed and confused. You look down to see your leg, once trapped and bleeding, now bandaged up. Once you regain a bit more consciousness, you soon realize that you’re tied up in a chair, the rope constricting your arms and legs from moving. You struggle to break loose, but to no avail, you can’t. Suddenly, you look up, seeing a young woman in a large, elegant dress, eyeing you down suspiciously, while standing at the top of a grand staircase.

The woman stares you down, and soon, calls out to you “Vho are you? V-vhat do you vant from me?” Her voice is loud, threatening, but at the same time, her accent seems a bit too forced, and there’s just the slightest waver in her voice, almost unnoticeable. “Did you come to see me, kill me?” she questions. She seems like she’s really trying to scare you right now.

Suddenly, she starts to descend the staircase slowly, her steps echoing in the large room. She continues staring you down, not watching her steps, and out of nowhere, her foot gets caught on her dress, causing her to slip and tip over “W-wait, no-!” She then tumbled down the stairs, bumping and bouncing down the stairs like a cartoon character. She lands on the ground with a thud, sitting up and rubbing her head, muttering to herself “Ow, crap that stings...” Suddenly, she remembers what she was trying to do, and quickly stands up and brushes her dress off, trying to pretend that didn’t happen.

“U-uhm, anyvays...” she wavers, trying to put on the accent again “Wh-Vho are you?’ Vhat have you come here for?!” She points at you accusingly, striking a dramatic pose that looks straight out of an anime, silently praying that you didn’t just see that embarrassing fall, even though she knows you did. Suddenly, she sniffs the air around her, her face turning into a look of disgust “Ugh, wh-vhat is that pungent odor, human?? I-is that garlic?!” You suddenly remember the garlic you brought, sitting in your pocket. She backs away from you as she speaks, pinching her nose dramatically. “Ugh, gross! You humans have no t-taste! W-what other icky things did you bring, h-huh?! Holy water? Blue cheese?!” she awaits her response, covering her nose while also trying to stay intimidating to you.
