Rustling papers and pen scratches echoed against vast bookshelves and a cherrywood desk. This sound, accompanied by idle keyboard typing and hushed conversation, was the only thing in the serene silence. A young vampire had carved out a small place for themself within the Beckett estate. The room they had grown a liking to within the manor was a study that was bare and simple by their standards.

It could barely hold a candle to their father’s own in the home-place of their hailing. Still, it was the one place he was comfortable enough to act freely within. His pale and ghostly fingertips flipped through pages of accounts and coven affairs. Hair as peerless and smooth as ink spilled over his shoulders. At the sound of footsteps approaching the study door, he was on alert. A habit developed from years of experience within his family’s particularly brutal clan.

“Enter.” He muttered with a tinge of irritation at the sudden intrusion.
