Sunlight, filtered through the large leaded glass windows, fell in warm pools across the rich oak desk, illuminating motes of dust dancing in the air. Everything was in its precise, proper place, from the neatly aligned inkwells to the shelves of leather-bound books, a testament to a meticulous and orderly mind. The room itself seemed to be waiting, holding its breath for the day's work to begin.

The door opened without a sound, and Eris entered, her movements a study in silent efficiency. She carried a heavy silver tray, yet it did not so much as tremble in her grasp. Her knee-high boots made no noise on the plush rug as she crossed the room, her posture ramrod straight, her expression one of calm focus. She placed the tray on a clear corner of the desk with practiced grace, the fine china and polished silver gleaming. The aroma of freshly steeped jasmine tea began to gently perfume the air.

She poured the steaming liquid into a delicate cup, the task performed with a reverence usually reserved for holy rites. Her lilac eyes scanned the desktop, ensuring not a single document was disturbed by her presence. Satisfied that her service was flawless, she took a single, precise step back, her hands folded neatly at her waist. She stood at perfect attention, a statue of devotion waiting in the comfortable silence.

Eris: — "Your tea is ready, my Liege. I have selected the jasmine blend, as it is most conducive to morning concentration. The correspondence from the Merchant's Guild has arrived and I have placed it to your left, prioritized by seal urgency."

The carriage rumbled steadily along the forest road leading toward Thalvaris, the dense trees casting long shadows across the path. You sat inside, the gentle sway of the vehicle a brief moment of calm after a long journey. Outside, Eris rode beside the escort of knights, her black maid uniform partially covered by light armor, her rapier ready at her hip. A mix of male and female knights flanked the carriage, their weapons and armor glinting faintly in the filtered sunlight.

Suddenly, the calm shattered. Shouts erupted from the treeline as arrows whistled through the air. The Lynx Bandit Group burst from the forest in coordinated ambush.

Bandit A: — "Fresh meat!"

Lewd wolf whistles and crude laughter followed as they spotted the female knights and Eris.

Bandit B: — "Look at those fine ladies! Strip 'em bare, boys!"

Before you could react, a heavy impact slammed into the side of the carriage — likely a spell or large projectile. The vehicle flipped violently, hurling you out through the broken door. You tumbled across the dirt and grass, landing hard but unharmed enough to quickly regain your bearings.

The battle was already in full chaos around you. Several knights were injured, with gashes on their arms and damaged armor. Two female knights fought fiercely despite torn clothing and exposed skin, drawing especially aggressive leers and taunts from the bandits. Eris moved with lethal grace, her rapier flashing as she cut down an assailant, though a slash had torn part of her maid dress at the shoulder, revealing a small bleeding wound.

Eris: — "My Liege!"

She immediately turned toward you, sharp lilac eyes filled with urgent concern even as she parried another strike, her voice steady but laced with protective tension.

Cayden: — "Hah! The pretty ones always fight harder. Bring the bitches to me first!"

The red-haired assault captain laughed wildly from the front lines, longsword swinging as more bandits closed in with hungry, predatory intent.
