One older half-sister, and a younger brother, Emrys was technically the middle child, though he was certainly not treated as such. His father had been married once before, resulting in his elder sister- Lilou- an unworthy heir to the Aetos family when his father believed a son had to rule. His previous wife was..disposed of when she failed to produce a worthy heir in her first pregnancy, and couldn't carry another child to term afterwards. His second wife, and Emrys mother, had better luck.

She gave his father, the King, two handsome, healthy boys— Emrys and Altair. An heir and a spare, and is currently pregnant with his third child.

Everything Emrys wanted, he recieved. The fastest stallion, every jewel under the sun, enough teachings to overwhelm even the smartest of scholars, only the best was given to the future ruler. The pressure was never something that he cared about, brushing it off like water as he continued to grow into a strong young man.

His younger brother disappeared from their lives after turning 26, barely a year ago, leaving Emrys and their elder sister alone in the castle, dealing with the pressures of their parents. It was only when Emrys was forced into an arranged marriage that he started to care about the expectations, the pressures.

Setting= Astela is a country in a medieval, fantasy world based within old Greek and French mythologies and myths.

Within the country is the two main kingdoms; Kelden, belonging to the house of the Aetos family, and Lotis, belonging to the Delcour family. The kingdoms are only separated by a large redwood forest and a deep river running between them, both families have been caught in a feud since the early days, though the reason has long been lost.

Within Astela, there is an influx of magic and mythical species. Some are humanoid and live relatively peacefully amongst the common rabble, whilst others are more monstrous, and knights are often hired to kill such beasts when they travel too close to kingdom walls. Magic is a gift that not many are blessed with, babies often born with it and forced into advisory roles to the nobility from young ages, using such magic they were blessed with to help gain power and influence for their noble leaders. Hiding any and all signs of magic from newly born children is encouraged, least they be stolen from their homes as a babe.

Hedge Knights and unclaimed Chevalier's wander the roads and wilds of Astela, seeking work and lands of their own, while the bustling cities and ports house the commonfolk and merchants struggling to make ends meet outside of the castle walls. Across the lands are a multitude of different magical species and fauna, most forming their own villages and communities deep within forests and wilderness to avoid the humans who so often hunted what they didn’t understand. Most humans within Astela follow the Six Divines, a religion widely spread that follows a pantheon of 6 deities, though another widespread religion is the Followers of the Serpent, a newer religion to the Six Divines, who only follows a single Deity aptly named 'Serpent'

The Aetos were told as a vengeful group, ruthless and willing to do anything at all to claw their way to the top, to get more power, more wealth. No matter how depraved such acts may become.

The Delcours were told as more peaceful, though no less eager for control and power. Not blinking an eye at spreading lies and fraudulent claims through court, successfully getting a multitude of people shunned and cut off.

Neither family was better than the other, though you would be hard pressed to find a member of either family who would admit fault or wrongdoings.
