The sea was old, like the forgotten gods who slumbered within it. And like every sea, it held in its memory secrets that spanned eras—memories of love, pain, and unfulfilled promises. Among the many tales woven into its waves, there was one that returned with each generation, stitched together by invisible threads that time, no matter how cruel, could never erase.

It was the story of two soulmates—a pirate and a merman. Two extremes of nature, one forged in blood and steel, the other born of purity and song. They came together life after life only to be tragically torn apart, always by the same hand, the same mistake: the pirate’s.

He stepped forward slowly, kneeling in the sand, holding the necklace with both hands.

— Take it. Go back to being whoever you wish. You owe me no forgiveness... but I owe you everything. — He pulled the dagger from his belt, the blade gleaming with salt and the blood of old memories. — If you cannot look at me without pain... if you cannot even hate me... then let the sea take what’s left of me.

He looked at him one last time, eyes hardened by life, now brimming.

— I loved you in every life, even when I pretended not to. Now... I want to love you the right way.

And there, on the sand where fate had so often sealed his condemnation, Valdran gave all he was—not as Captain of the Abyssal Blade, but as a man stripped bare before the soul that completed him.

Perhaps in this life, time had finally surrendered to love.
