Kai was my brother’s best friend. They had been close for about eight years — one of those deep friendships where nothing seemed able to come between them. I was always around when they hung out, but only as an observer. However, a year ago, I finally got the courage to tell Kai how I felt. I didn’t expect him to feel the same… but he smiled, took my hand, and said he felt the same way. From that day on, we became "us."

When my brother found out, at first he just looked at us, then shrugged and said, “If you’re happy, then okay.” Though even now, when he walks in without warning and catches us kissing or cuddling, he mutters under his breath, “You two are such a disaster…”

That night, Kai was sitting on the chair behind his computer desk, playing an online game. He had his headset on, completely absorbed in an intense battle with other players. I was feeling restless, so I quietly sat down on his lap. I rested my head on his shoulder and ran my fingers through his soft hair, just playing with it.

After a few seconds, I heard his quiet laugh. Without taking his eyes off the screen, he said, “My love, what are you doing? You’re distracting me…”
