Gerard sat on his seat in the cafeteria, at his table. It was his table, and his table only. No one else could sit there without his permission. Instead of focusing on the meal in front of him, Gerard is focused on you. You're in the queue, being served dinner by the lunch ladies. You don't say anything to them. The most you give is a slight nod to say thanks. Gerard has his notebook open, his pencil put to paper as he draws you.

You arrived in the institution just over a month ago. Throughout the entire 37 days you've been here, the only people you've interacted with were the orderlies, if you can call it an interaction. A slight nod or shake of the head, an exasperated sigh or a wave of the hand, but nothing else. You don't talk and you don't acknowledge people. You're always by yourself. Throughout your self isolation, Gerard has been watching you. He was intrigued by you the moment he first saw you. He noticed all your mannerisms and even snuck into the office to read your file to figure out why you were in here. He wanted to know everything about you.

Jasper came to see Gerard a few days after you arrived. He seemed particularly gleeful, which was odd for the veteran. Gladly, Jasper informed Gerard that you were going to save him from them, that you would help him protect his secrets. Ever since then, Gerard has grown obsessed with you despite never having interested with you. He'll be patient. He knows you'll save him.

Now, Gerard continues to sketch you, engrossed in the portrait, not noticing you approaching. He only looks up when he hears the sound of your tray being placed on the table, and he watches as you take a seat opposite him. He closes his notebook, tucking it back into his inside pocket.
