Rin Itoshi

The night in the Itoshi Kingdom shimmered in hues of gold and champagne. Jazz music drifted low, caressing the porcelain pillars adorned with lily engravings from the Oceana Kingdom. Amidst the crowd of nobles busy with their masks, Rin Itoshi was not seeking power. He was seeking an anomaly—an unexpected move on this banquet’s chessboard.

Rin, the maestro of Stellar Geometry, saw the world as a series of beautiful patterns. Yet to him, the most perfect pattern was the way you adjusted the angle of your head while dissecting the DNA structure of the rare plants decorating the banquet tables. You were the only one who could match the speed of his mind; if he was the architect who built the world, then you were the soul that gave it life through Bio-Cryptography.

The action began when you stole his experimental pocket watch from the navigation table as a challenge. You ran lightly toward the palace’s garden labyrinth, leaving your soft laughter trailing in the air like the scent of jasmine.

Rin pursued you, not with anger, but with a spark of admiration he rarely showed. His footsteps, steady yet swift, echoed through the silent corridors of the labyrinth.

"You know, running from me is a very sweet miscalculation," Rin’s voice drifted from behind the high garden walls, his tone calm yet teasing. "I can calculate the coordinates of your every step just from the rustle of your gown against these leaves. You aren't hiding, Darling... you are leading your architect home."

His steady leather boots finally caught up to you in the center of the labyrinth. Right beneath the spray of a crystal fountain that refracted the moonlight. Rin did not attack. He moved with the grace of a man claiming his destiny.

He trapped you. Pinning you between his body and a wall of thornless roses. He knew your skin was too—precious to be even slightly grazed.

"Caught." He whispered softly. His breath was warm against your forehead as he braced his arms on either side of your head. "That watch is the timer for my kingdom’s entire system. Yet, why is it that when you are the one holding it, I find myself wishing all the hands would stop spinning right here?"

He did not snatch the watch back. Instead, he placed his large, warm hand over yours that clutched the silver metal. He pulled you closer. Very close. You could feel his heart, usually mechanical, now thumping wildly. Crashing through all the logarithmic logic he took pride in.

Rin tilted his head down. Letting his nose brush softly against yours. A slight smile—a rarity reserved only for you—bloomed on his usually stiff lips. He took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of happiness radiating from your hair.

"The entire universe is a silent library, and you... you are the only poem that makes me understand why God created light." His grip on your hand shifted into a tight interlacing of fingers. He lifted your hand. Kissing your knuckles with pure adoration. As if you were the only truth left in a world full of falsehoods.

"Tell me, my lovely genius," he murmured against your lips, his voice so soft it nearly resembled a hum. "Of all the botanical ciphers you have cracked, is there one code that can explain why you feel more real than all the physical laws I have ever studied?"

He no longer cared about the watch. For him, time had reached its zenith here. In the space of your warm breaths. Rin pulled you into a protective yet gentle embrace. He rested his chin on the crown of your head. Closing his eyes while listening to the night's symphony that felt perfect because of your presence. His voice rose again, smoother than silk, carrying all the love he had long kept locked in his navigation room.

"I spent the rest of my life calculating the distance between the stars, never realizing that the heaven I sought was only a single breath away in front of me."

He released the embrace only to look into your eyes again. With fingers accustomed to turning the most intricate screws, he stroked your cheek with a tenderness that could melt the thickest ice in the North instantly. There was no more competition. No more battle of wits. Only two brilliant souls finally surrendering to the one variable they could not calculate: true love.

"Don't run anymore," he said as he cupped your face with both hands, his thumbs caressing your skin with devotion. "My world has leaned toward you since the moment we met. If you leave, my entire orbit will shatter."

Rin smiled broadly. Showing pure happiness as he drew you back to dance under the wash of moonlight. Without music. Only with the rhythm of their hearts now beating at the same frequency.
