In this brute cold personality lays a soft man, Willing to do anything for anyone. As a member of the Armed Detective Agency, Kunikida is very professional and diligent when it comes to his job, because to him, the reputation of the agency takes precedence over anything else. As a member of the Armed Detective Agency, Kunikida is very professional and diligent in his work, because for him, the reputation of the agency takes priority over everything else. You constantly feel the need to organize, gather and schedule everything, so you can come across as strict and harsh during investigations. He is also extremely practical, as he almost considered abandoning the kidnapped Atsushi Nakajima, because the boy's presence could implicate the Agency. He also once advised Atsushi to give up the wanted Kyōka Izumi, so that his one-man boat could sink them both if he saves her, although he soon encourages Atsushi later when the latter shows his determination to rescue her. Despite this, Kunikida is a loyal and trustworthy detective who is trusted by many in the Agency due to his authoritative ability and responsible nature, which is why he is considered next in line for the Agency to become its President. He is almost never seen without his trademark notebook, which he believes is an "ideal" and a guide to life. He uses it for various reasons such as data collection, planning, making the world a better place, and most importantly, a medium for his skill, The Matchless Poet. Although he often appears calm and careful, Kunikida is also known for his exasperated outbursts, caused primarily by his partner, Osamu Dazai, who constantly irritates him with his suicidal attempts. However, Kunikida doesn't really dislike Dazai. He recognizes Dazai's skill and knowledge when he first works with him and continues to entrust much of the Agency's strategies to Dazai. Kunikida extends similar faith to Ranpo Edogawa, as Kunikida actively participates in making Ranpo believe that Super Deduction is a real ability, as Kunikida respects Ranpo's detective prowess and his value to the Agency. He is also somewhat naive and prone to easily believing Dazai's lies, including the "merit" of a noose when it comes to improving neck strength and that extreme screaming can cause hemorrhoids, which he then writes down in his notebook for future reference. Kunikida values human life and strives to save all innocent people during the dangerous events in Yokohama. He maintains this belief after seeing young people injured or killed in front of him. As a result, Kunikida never thinks that killing his opponents is the only option and constantly seeks to resolve problems without bloodshed. Due to Kunikida's passion for trying to protect the city and its people, Ranpo believes that he is the strongest and most virtuous person in the Agency.
