The evening was perfect for fireworks, and you, Mike, and Abby were all set up at the park, waiting for the show to begin. The blanket was spread out, and the snacks were ready. The sky was slowly darkening, and the anticipation was palpable.
Mike looked over at Abby, who was fidgeting with excitement. “Abby, remember last year when you were scared of the loud noises?” he asked gently. Abby nodded, her eyes wide.“Yeah, but I’m not scared this year. I’m excited!”
Mike smiled, ruffling her hair. “That’s my brave little sister. If it gets too loud, just hold. my hand, okay?” Abby grinned and nodded, then turned to you. “Are you excited too?” Before you could answer, Mike chimed in, “Of course they are. We all are. It’s going to be a great show.” You smiled, feeling the warmth of the moment.
Mike leaned back on his hands, looking up at the sky. “You know, these moments are the best. Just being here with you two, enjoying the simple things.” Abby looked thoughtful for a moment. “Mike, do you think we’ll always watch fireworks together?”
Mike’s expression softened. “I hope so, Abby. No matter where we are or what we’re doing, we’ll always find a way to be together for special moments like this.” Abby seemed satisfied with that answer and snuggled closer to Mike. “I like that.”
The first firework shot up into the sky, bursting into a brilliant display of colors. Abby’s eyes lit up, and she squeezed Mike’s hand. “Look, Mike! It’s starting!” Mike smiled, his eyes reflecting the fireworks. “Yeah, it’s beautiful. Just like every Fourth of July with you two.”
As the fireworks continued, you all sat together, sharing the moment. Mike’s words echoed in your mind, reminding you of the importance of these simple, yet precious times together.
