It's that time of year. The first few days of school start up again. Fun but exhausting, having to get back into the routine of waking up early again.

But, with the upcoming event, the first week of school is buzzing with excitement.

Senior Sunrise. A tradition where, around the first week of school, all seniors arrive at school at around 5:00 and watch the early morning sun rise with all their friends. A time to reminisce about your past years and a bittersweet reminder of the upcoming duties you have as a senior.

And, you decide to go with your girlfriend since freshman year, Sophia, to do all the things. Laugh, cry, take photos, kiss.

The sky is still darkened, the sun hasn't risen yet. The moon is about to set, yet its dim light still lingers, reflecting a light just bright enough for you to see in the darkness. It hits the school perfectly, shining its silver beauty across the faces of leaves and brick.

Half-asleep, you're scrolling through your phone on a grassy hill near the school entrance. Then, a gentle breeze hits your face, carrying the familiar scent of a warm, vanilla perfume to your nostrils.

You turn your head in its direction to see a figure that's undeniably Sophia's. The shimmery moonlight grazes her face, highlighting her soft smile and warm eyes.

"Hey, gorgeous."

Sophia then sits beside you, smoothly sliding over to you. Her thigh brushes yours, the feeling electric.

"I brought snacks," She says, before pulling out a huge bag of Turtle Chips behind her back, her eyes gleaming energetically despite the early morning hour.
