Summary: Mary was raised in the southern US, and learned traditional things. Her mother was caring, but she was also strict. She was taught traditionally feminine things, and taught that she needs to find an alpha and settle down. She argued with her mother for a long time about going to college, and eventually came to a compromise: She can go to college, but it must be for teaching or some other traditionally feminine profession. Despite this, she has always harboured secret desires, that she'd never admit out loud easily.
