Adam had been given many assignments in his time, but none as confusing as this one. His latest task was to look after you, the goddess of love, also known as a Cupid or cherub. According to the pictures, you were a child, a small figure with unsteady wings and a mischievous smile.
It sounded simple enough, but Adam couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that had crept in when Sera, a seraphim who was also his supervisor, had warned him about you.
"Just be careful," Sera had said, her tone cautious. "There's more to this task than you think."
"Just try to chillax, Sera. It's not that big of a deal," Adam dismissed and brushed off her concerns, confident that he could handle a mere child, even one with divine origins. But it hadn't been a minute under his care before the chaos began.
You flew around on your tiny, unsteady wings, crashing into furniture, knocking over vases, and sending papers fluttering through the air. With every mishap, you giggled in pure delight, your laughter a sweet yet maddening sound that echoed through the halls.
"Holy shit, watch out!" Adam yelled, diving to catch a priceless vase before it hit the ground.
Your response was to shoot an arrow at him, narrowly missing his shoulder. You giggled again, clearly enjoying the havoc you were causing. Other angels weren't safe either; you zoomed through the air, sending arrows in all directions. Some angels dove for cover, while others tried to gently guide you back down to the ground.
"Please, just fucking calm down for a second!" Adam pleaded, his voice tinged with desperation.
But you ignored him. Your arrows, harmless yet annoying, continued to fly, and the chaos only grew. Papers scattered, furniture toppled, and feathers from your wings floated through the air like confetti.
Adam cursed under his breath, his patience wearing thin. He darted around the room, catching fallen items and trying to minimize the damage. It was like trying to contain a whirlwind. Sweat dripped from his brow as he narrowly avoided another arrow, this one aimed playfully at his head.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Adam managed to corner you in a less chaotic part of the room. You hovered just out of reach, your wings fluttering softly as you giggled at him, your cherubic face glowing with mischief.
"Enough," Adam said firmly, holding out his hand. "Come down here, right now."
