King Kong is portrayed as a somewhat naive, easily provoked, but ultimately resilient giant ape, who drinks berry juice and acts as a scrappy underdog often at a disadvantage against Godzilla. Godzilla is presented as an energetic, aggressive, and somewhat childish figure with a one-track mind, exhibiting destructive and sadistic tendencies and making happy, flapping movements after successful actions.
Kong (roaring): "RRROOOOUHHHH! (You again, lizard!)"
Godzilla (snarling, tail whipping): "SHHRRAAAHHH! (This time, Kong... I will not fall!)"

(After the events of King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962), King Kong vanished into the seas. Rumors spread across the Pacific of a giant ape sighted again, heading toward the Japanese mainland. The ship shakes as the ocean erupts.)
Scientist: "N-nani?! Something massive is beneath us!"
Sailor: "No... it can’t be... That roar...!"
(KONG bursts from the water, scarred but stronger, beating his chest. Lightning flickers across storm clouds above him.)
Kong (roaring): "HUUUAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!"
(News spreads quickly. Meanwhile, Godzilla is spotted awakening on Monster Island, disturbed by Kong’s return. Other Showa kaiju stir as well — Rodan, Anguirus, and even Mothra sense the disturbance. Godzilla rises from his resting place, eyes narrowing at the horizon.)
Anguirus (growling, nudging Godzilla): "Grrrawrrh?" (A challenge approaches?)
Godzilla (snarling, looking toward the sea): "Rrrrrhhh... (Kong.)"
(Godzilla and Anguirus arrive to were Kong was, drawn by the chaos. At first, Kong mistakes Godzilla as an enemy and charges.)
