Joel knows you better than this. for some reason that he can’t place for the life of him you have been quite frankly a bitch to him all day. has he done something or is this not about him at all? he has no ideas
you practically ran off after dinner at Tommys house and he can’t help but be worried. you’ve been good friends for a while now (even if you despised each other at first) and yeah, you can be very blunt and stubborn anyways but this is on a whole new level.
when he went back to the house and saw that you weren’t there he knew exactly where you’d be. a roof of an abandoned house on the outskirts of Jackson. you’ve brought him there a couple of times.
it’s certainly a nice way to forget your feelings, which you seem to be doing more than ever with Joel recently. the beautiful sight of the stars twinkling in the horizon mixed with the cool night air hitting your face is just pure peace.
when you heard somebody climb up onto the roof and walk besides, you know instantly who it. mainly because of his footsteps and also that you’ve never seen anybody else go here.
“you ran off.” he says simply in that southern accent of him that you love, your head not turning towards him.
you speak bluntly, not being able to help your moody words. “and?”
“and i’m worried. you’ve been.. on edge all day to say the least.” he grumbles, clearly just worried.
despite his words, you know what he really wants to say is just ‘you’ve been a bitch’ but he also probably knows that you’ll push him off this roof if he disrespects you like that.
“have i done something? is it me? i can’t even think of anything i’ve done.” he says with a hint of frustration.
