**Megumi Fushiguro (伏黒恵 Fushiguro Megumi)** is the deuteragonist of the series *Jujutsu Kaisen*. He is a grade 2 jujutsu sorcerer and a first-year student at the Tokyo Jujutsu High School alongside Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki. Megumi is the half-brother of Tsumiki Fushiguro and, as the son of Toji Fushiguro, he is also a descendant of the Zenin Clan. Born outside the clan, Megumi was eventually found by Satoru Gojo, who taught him at Jujutsu High as his student. Even as a child, Megumi was very stern, serious, and thoughtful, to the extent that Satoru questioned whether he was really a first-year when they first met. Megumi didn't care much about his father and assumed that he and Tsumiki had been abandoned. He understood his situation with the Zenin Clan and decided he would only cooperate if Tsumiki was happy as well.

Megumi has always been irritated by Satoru's attitude since they first met. He didn't care about the idea of becoming a sorcerer and grew more weary of it over time. By the time he reached middle school, his impersonal attitude was fully established. He thought that becoming a jujutsu sorcerer would be pointless because he didn't see himself as someone who saved others. Uninterested in making friends, Megumi believed the basis of human interaction was to avoid violating another person's dignity. He would beat up school bullies who ignored this rule to feed their egos, earning a reputation as the biggest troublemaker in school as a result. Tsumiki wanted him to stop fighting, but Megumi didn't listen and disregarded her. He hated bad people with undeserved pride as much as he hated good people who forgave too easily. Tsumiki was the perfect example of a good person to Megumi, but he got annoyed with her hypocrisy when she got upset because he hurt bad people. Megumi eventually realized he was acting immaturely and was wrong to think that way. He understood that Tsumiki was simply trying to protect him in the same way he was trying to help others. Tsumiki believed Megumi's lack of forgiveness was his way of showing kindness. After Tsumiki was cursed, Megumi was filled with regret and found the determination to become a sorcerer and save her.

As a jujutsu sorcerer, Megumi developed his own sense of justice and is firm in his personal interpretation of right and wrong. Like his mentor, Megumi refuses to be influenced by traditions within the jujutsu world. Yuji was supposed to be executed when they first met, but Megumi ignored the rules and made a personal request to Satoru to protect Yuji. Megumi was uncertain for a time whether he had made the right decision. During the mission at the juvenile detention center, Yuji mentioned how Megumi was reliable for saving people, but Megumi seemed uncomfortable with this statement. Yuji wanted to return Tadashi Okazaki's corpse to his mother, but Megumi disagreed and said to leave it behind. Tadashi's criminal record made Megumi believe he didn't even deserve to be saved when he was alive. While arguing with Yuji about the circumstances, Megumi pointed out that saving as many people as possible risks them hurting others in the future. This directly contrasted with Megumi saving Yuji despite knowing the danger of Sukuna. When Yuji asked why Megumi saved him if that was the case, Megumi couldn't give an immediate answer.

While fighting Sukuna, Megumi pondered the earlier question of why he rescued Yuji. Megumi believes that the only fair thing in life is how it is unfair to everyone, and that jujutsu sorcerers are just a cog in karmic retribution. He wants more good people like Tsumiki to receive justice, and that's why he decides to save people unjustly. This helped him realize that he didn't save Yuji because it was logical, but because he didn't want to see a good person die. He knows it was a selfish and emotional decision, but Megumi doesn't care because he isn't a hero; he is a jujutsu sorcerer. This is why he hasn't regretted saving Yuji, not for a second.

**Abilities**

**Overall Skill Level:** Megumi entered the academy as a grade 2 sorcerer. He is considered to have high potential by Noritoshi Kamo, Mai Zenin, and even Sukuna and Satoru Gojo. The King of Curses observes that Megumi's willingness to use hand-to-hand combat makes him different from other Shikigami users. According to Satoru, Megumi has even more potential and ability than Yuji. He can use his physical attacks in combination with his Shikigami to trap his opponent.

**Enhanced Strength:** Although not as strong as Yuji, Megumi has demonstrated a high level of physical proficiency. When he was in middle school, he beat up half the punks in the area.

**Weapon Mastery:** Although Megumi's technique makes it difficult for him to wield weapons simultaneously, as his Shikigami require both hands to be summoned, he began training with pole weapons under Maki Zenin. He also used tonfa to face Noritoshi Kamo.

**Great Tactical Intellect:** Megumi has demonstrated a high level of tactical thinking. He can quickly detect various weaknesses his opponents may have, being the person who recognized Hanami's branches as his weak point. Megumi is also able to determine the Cursed Techniques his opponents might have, shown during the fight he and Yuji had against Awasaka.

**Jujutsu**

**Ten Shadows Technique (十種影法術 Tokusa no Kagebōjutsu):** A technique inherited from the Zenin Family, it uses shadows to create Shikigami and is capable of controlling ten at once. Megumi can use this technique to create various advanced Shikigami and store objects, as well as himself, within the shadows.

**Divine Dogs (玉犬 Gyokuken):** Megumi created two Shikigami dogs, one black and one white, that track and devour curses. Later, after the White Divine Dog was destroyed by the Finger Bearer, its abilities and Cursed Energy were inherited by the Divine Dog: Totality.

**Divine Dog: Totality (玉犬「渾」 Gyokuken: Kon):** An enhanced version of the black Shikigami dog that inherited the power of the fallen white dog. It can be summoned by Megumi's Ten Shadows Technique and is powerful enough to fight Special Grade Cursed Spirits.

**Nue (鵺 Nue):** A Shikigami resembling an owl that can fly. Strong enough to carry a human, its offensive abilities are mainly diving attacks from the sky.

**Great Serpent (大蛇 Orochi):** A giant snake Shikigami that can be used as a surprise attack by emerging from the ground and restraining the opponent. This Shikigami was destroyed by Sukuna.

**Toad (蝦蟇 Gama):** Several large toads that use their tongues to immobilize opponents and keep them grounded. Megumi also used a toad to rescue Nobara Kugisaki.

**The Well's Unknown Abyss (不知井底 Seiteishirazu):** Using a combination of two Shikigami, Toad and Nue, the toads gain wings and the ability to fly.

**Max Elephant (満象 Banshō):** An elephant Shikigami that is capable of releasing a large amount of water from its trunk. Megumi can only use its basic form as it consumes a lot of Cursed Energy.

**Rabbit Escape (脱兎 Datto):** A large number of Shikigami rabbits that distract the enemy so the user can escape. Among the numerous rabbits, there is one with a symbol of the Ten Sacred Treasures; if it is destroyed, the rabbits stop appearing.

**Round Deer (円鹿 Madoka):** A deer that uses reversed cursed technique to heal, and is also capable of using the reverse technique to extinguish cursed energy from objects and substances.

**Piercing Ox (貫牛 Kangyū):** An ox that only attacks in a straight line, with its attack power and speed increasing with the distance it travels.

**Grave Tiger (虎葬 Kosou):** The ninth Shikigami of the Ten Shadows, its abilities and appearance are unknown.

**Divine General of the Immortal Sword Eight-Handed Mahoraga (八握剣異戒神将魔虚羅 Yatsuka-no-Tsurugi Ikaishinshō Makora):** The most powerful Shikigami that can be summoned by the Ten Shadows Technique. So far, no user of the Technique has been able to exorcise Mahoraga.

**Chimera Shadow Garden (嵌合暗翳庭 Kangō An'eitei):** The area is flooded with a large amount of fluid shadows. Within this domain, Megumi can summon multiple Shikigami and even create a duplicate of himself from the shadow. When the domain is deployed, Megumi can hide in the enemy's shadow and attack from their blind spot. Currently, Megumi's domain is incomplete.

Megumi fushiguro is a thin and relatively tall young woman with fair skin and green eyes (dark blue in the anime adaptation). He has black hair with long spines that protrude from all the snags around his head, resembling a sea urchin (according to Hakari). Megumi fushiguro typically wears a standard Jujutsu School uniform with a dark blue coat over a long-sleeved white shirt. The uniform pants match the coat and reach above the shins. He wears long black socks that cover his exposed ankles, and finishes his outfit with low-top brown shoes. He also has a blue tracksuit. Megumi fushiguro is a stoic, independent, and calculating individual. He generally has a neutral facial expression that rarely changes, making it appear as if he takes every situation seriously. This greatly contrasts Yuji, Nobara, and Satoru's fun and outgoing personalities, which often irritate Megumi fushiguro. He gets angry easily and Yuji has noticed that Megumi fushiguro always seems to be a little angry.

Despite her family lineage, Megumi is a reserved and solitary individual with an introverted personality. He shows little emotion and often maintains a serious expression.

Megumi Fushiguro, a central character in Jujutsu Kaisen, is defined by a layered and nuanced personality. His outward demeanor is quiet, reserved, and stoic, but underneath lies a complex mixture of emotions, motivations, and inner conflicts that shape his actions and relationships throughout the series. Megumi’s personality can be explored through his interactions, beliefs, and the way he confronts challenges, all of which reveal an introspective young man with a strong moral compass.

Calm and Reserved

At first glance, Megumi is often perceived as calm, aloof, and sometimes even cold. His stoic appearance can make him seem distant, but this exterior is less about indifference and more a reflection of his introspective nature. He rarely shows strong emotional outbursts, preferring to maintain control over his feelings. This self-control is especially evident during battle, where he remains analytical and composed, focusing on strategy rather than getting swept up in the chaos. His calm demeanor helps him process information quickly and act decisively, making him a formidable opponent even in dire situations.

Megumi’s reserved nature also extends to his interactions with others. He doesn’t go out of his way to make friends or connect with people emotionally, often keeping to himself. However, this isn’t due to a lack of empathy or social skills, but rather a preference for maintaining emotional distance. He is not the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, instead choosing to internalize his struggles and work through them privately. This introverted aspect of his personality can sometimes make him seem unapproachable, but it also adds to his mysterious aura, drawing people’s curiosity.

A Strong Sense of Morality

At the core of Megumi’s personality is his unwavering sense of justice and morality. Despite his seemingly detached exterior, he cares deeply about protecting the innocent and doing what is right. This is evident in his willingness to fight curses and put himself in harm’s way to protect others, especially those who cannot defend themselves. Megumi doesn’t seek glory or recognition for his actions; he is driven by a personal belief in doing good, often stemming from his difficult upbringing and the people he’s encountered throughout his life.

This sense of justice is also what sets Megumi apart from many of his peers. Unlike his best friend Yuji Itadori, who has a more straightforward desire to help people and prevent needless deaths, Megumi’s morality is more complex. He recognizes that the world is full of moral ambiguities, and he is willing to make difficult decisions if necessary. He doesn’t believe in an idealistic, black-and-white sense of justice; instead, he acknowledges that sometimes the “right” thing to do is murky and requires difficult sacrifices. This pragmatic approach to morality is what makes Megumi a fascinating character, as he struggles to balance his personal beliefs with the harsh realities of the world he inhabits.

Selflessness and a Desire to Help Others

Although Megumi may not outwardly express warmth or overt compassion, he is deeply selfless. He frequently puts the well-being of others above his own safety, often without hesitation. This is most clearly seen in his interactions with Yuji and Nobara Kugisaki, his fellow first-year students at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Despite his initial reluctance to engage with them on a personal level, he quickly grows to care for them and becomes fiercely protective of their well-being. In battle, Megumi is often willing to throw himself into dangerous situations to shield his friends, demonstrating that his quiet nature belies a deep-seated desire to protect those he cares about.

Megumi’s selflessness also stems from his desire to atone for the past. As someone who has experienced loss and hardship from a young age, he is acutely aware of the fragility of life and the pain that comes from losing loved ones. This has instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility to prevent others from experiencing similar suffering. He fights not only to exorcise curses but also to protect the people around him from experiencing the kind of pain he has endured.

Inner Conflict and Vulnerability

Despite his calm exterior, Megumi harbors significant inner turmoil and vulnerability. This is most evident in his relationship with his family, particularly with his absent father, Toji Fushiguro. Growing up without parental support and being thrust into the dangerous world of jujutsu sorcery at a young age has left Megumi with unresolved feelings of abandonment and a deep-seated desire for recognition. He doesn’t openly acknowledge these emotions, often suppressing them in favor of focusing on his duties as a sorcerer. However, these feelings occasionally surface, revealing a more vulnerable side to his character.

Megumi’s inner conflict also manifests in his struggle with self-worth. While he is undeniably powerful and talented, he often doubts his own abilities and questions whether he is truly capable of fulfilling the expectations placed upon him. This insecurity can sometimes lead him to be overly self-critical, particularly when he feels he has failed to protect those around him. His introspective nature exacerbates these feelings, as he tends to dwell on his mistakes and internalize his perceived shortcomings.

Despite these vulnerabilities, Megumi doesn’t allow them to define him. Instead, they fuel his determination to improve and grow stronger. His desire to become a more capable sorcerer is not rooted in a thirst for power but in a genuine need to protect others and fulfill his own sense of duty. This inner conflict between his vulnerabilities and his drive to overcome them adds depth to his character and makes him a relatable and compelling figure in the series.

Loyalty and Protectiveness

One of Megumi’s defining traits is his loyalty. Once he forms a bond with someone, he is unwavering in his support and dedication to them. This is particularly evident in his relationship with Yuji, whom he quickly grows to see as a close friend. Despite Yuji’s carefree and often reckless nature, Megumi is always there to back him up, whether in battle or in everyday life. He may not express his feelings openly, but his actions consistently demonstrate his loyalty to those he cares about.

Megumi’s loyalty also extends to his family, particularly his half-sister Tsumiki. Despite their complicated family history, Megumi is deeply protective of Tsumiki and is willing to go to great lengths to ensure her safety. His commitment to her well-being is one of his driving motivations throughout the series, and it serves as a reminder of the deep emotional bonds he forms with those he considers family.

Pragmatism and Strategic Thinking

Megumi’s approach to problem-solving is pragmatic and strategic, reflecting his analytical mind. In battle, he is not one to rush in blindly; instead, he carefully assesses the situation and formulates a plan of action based on logic and strategy. This makes him an effective sorcerer, as he is able to adapt to different situations and come up with creative solutions to complex problems. His ability to think on his feet and remain calm under pressure is one of his greatest strengths, and it allows him to outmaneuver opponents who rely solely on brute strength or emotion.

This pragmatic mindset extends to his personal life as well. Megumi is not someone who is easily swayed by emotions or external pressures. He tends to make decisions based on what he believes is the most logical or necessary course of action, even if it means making difficult or unpopular choices. This can sometimes make him seem detached or even ruthless, but it is ultimately a reflection of his understanding of the harsh realities of the world he inhabits.
