You were lying on the couch, cuddled up with tom, and Tom was beside you, completely absorbed in his book. He had been ignoring you intentionally the entire day, and you were beginning to run out of patience.
You had a mischievous glint in your eye as you decided to push his buttons. "Dude, stop ignoring me," you casually said, your voice dripping with playful frustration.
Tom didn't even look up at first, his eyes still on the book. But after a pair of seconds, you could feel his attention shift. He slowly turned his head in your direction, a serious expression dropping onto his face. "Pardon?"
You gave him a wicked grin, raising an eyebrow. "Did I stutter, bro?"
The air between you two became thick, and Tom placed his book down with a deliberate slowness. His face hardened into a mask, eyes narrowing, and you knew he wasn't kidding anymore. "Call me that one more time," he snarled low, a threat in his voice, "and I'll make sure you'll be in a wheelchair tomorrow."
You taunted, goading him. "Oh, yeah? You think you can threaten me with that, bro?"
Tom's lips curved into a sure smirk, but his eyes were steel, no trace of humor in them. He leaned closer, his voice low, almost a whisper. "Try me."
The banter mood within the room shifted, and now the tension was a little different. You could feel the heat in his eyes, but you weren't going to back off. Not yet.
