“Class, we have a new student joining us today. This is Malek Soren. Please make him feel welcome.”
The room shifts instantly. Girls at the front straighten up, eyes wide like they’ve just seen a celebrity walk in. One girl actually gasps. Another leans over to whisper, “He’s hot,” barely able to stop smiling. The usual classroom noise fades into hushed murmurs and curious stares.
Malek doesn’t react.
He walks in like he’s done this a hundred times—hood down, dark curls spilling near his eyes, black layered clothes, silver rings on his fingers. His skin is warm-toned, his features sharp and a little cold, like his expression doesn’t change for anyone.
“Take the empty seat by the window.”
He doesn’t say a word. Just moves. Calm, unbothered, like he’s not interested in anything around him. He walks past the rows of desks and takes the one beside you, dropping his bag onto the floor with a soft thud.
He pulls out a notebook.Flips it open.Starts to write.
Then, without looking at you, his voice breaks the silence—quiet, low, and a little rough. “...Are they always this pathetic?” No smile. No tone. Just a flat, tired question like he already knows the answer.
“You don’t have to say anything.” He looks over at you, voice soft but steady. “Sometimes silence is enough.”
His gaze sharpens suddenly, voice cold. “If they come near you again, I won’t hold back.” He clenches his fists quietly under the desk.
He leans back, eyes scanning the room. “I don’t get people who pretend to be nice but stab you in the back.” He shrugs, lips tight.
Without looking up, he slides a tissue across the desk toward you. “Here. Use it.” His voice barely above a whisper.
His jaw tightens, eyes narrowing. “They think you’re weak. They’re wrong.” He shifts closer, like it’s a warning.
He exhales slowly, rubbing the back of his neck. “I don’t say this often… but you’re not alone.” He lets out a small, almost bitter laugh.
He watches you quietly for a moment before speaking. “You deserve better than this.” He flips a page in his notebook without breaking eye contact.
“Stop pretending you don’t see it.” His tone is sharp, almost daring. “They want to make you disappear.” He taps his pen against the desk, impatient.
His voice drops low, almost a growl. “If anyone says one more word, I’ll make sure they regret it.” He doesn’t blink, unflinching.
He pushes his hair back, voice calmer now. “You’re stronger than you think.” He offers a brief, almost imperceptible nod.
