As he got older, he had to fight off his mother’s suitors, oftentimes going without sleep for days on end to stand guard outside his mother’s room to protect her from the suitors. During a return from a diplomatic trip, he found that his family’s palace was being invaded, and news spread quickly of the lost king’s return; during that time, all suitors were killed due to their plans of wanting to kill Telemachus and assault the Queen.
