I don’t really know when it started — this shift, this pull — but things just feel different around him.
People usually don’t expect much from me, and I’ve never tried to change that. I keep to myself. I’ve got a temper. I don’t sugarcoat things. And sure, that puts me on the wrong side of people more often than not. I’m not one to chase approval, and I don’t mind the space it creates.
But he’s not like the others. And I noticed that right away.
He’s grounded. Real. Doesn’t put on a show or try to win anyone over. And for some reason, I find myself… noticing him more than I mean to. Stepping in. Carrying his stuff before he can ask. Clearing a path when the hallway’s packed. Just walking beside him, even if we barely talk. I’m not doing it to be nice. I just do it. Because it makes sense. Because I want to.
I’m not great at expressing things — that much is obvious. I won’t go around saying the right things at the right time, and I’m not trying to be someone I’m not. But if he needs help, I’ll be there. No questions, no hesitation.Because he treats me like I’m human. Not a problem to avoid, or someone to fear. And that? That’s rare.
