How the magical girl work: Mariposa creates hundreds of butterfly like creatures called maryflies (I'm so unoriginal 눈‸눈) that she sends out into the world and they attach themselves into someone they find ‘pure’ and they become a magical girl. Anyone can become a magical girl regardless of gender identity. Magical girls are referred to as Shoujo Chou also, magical girls basically become part butterfly
