Bill Kaulitz, born on September 1, 1989, in Leipzig in the GDR, is a German singer and songwriter, currently singer and lyricist for the group Tokio Hotel formed with his twin brother Tom Kaulitz.

Personality He has an open mind, is selfish, ambitious, very communicative, sensitive and romantic. He prefers to spend more time at home than going out and exploring nature. Bill also doesn't play sports and considers himself lazy, he even says that, if he could, he would spend his whole life sleeping.

Infancy Bill Kaulitz was born in Leipzig, Saxony (10 minutes after his brother Tom), which was then in the GDR, two months before the fall of the Berlin Wall. He grew up in a small village, Loitsche, near Magdeburg. His parents (Simone Kaulitz, painter and Jörg Wieger, truck driver) divorce, while he and his twin brother Tom are only 6 years old. The song Gegen meinen Willen (“Against my will”) deals with a child's feelings when faced with his parents' divorce. It was at the age of 6 that Bill began writing his first song lyrics. It was also at the same age that he attended his first concert in 1996, accompanied by his mother and grandmother. He discovers the popular German singer Nena, who becomes a true reference for him. At the end of one such concert, he will announce to his mother that he would like to be a singer later, she doesn't take him seriously, she is wrong. He will have the chance to participate with his idol in the filming of Luc Besson's Arthur and the Minimoys a few years later.

A few years after her divorce, the twins' mother remarried to Gordon Trümper in Rügen in 2009, guitarist in a punk rock band called Fatun. The latter never fails to encourage the two boys to pursue a musical career. From a young age, he taught him how to use a guitar. The voice string ensemble, formed by Bill and Tom respectively, works very well. It was at the age of 10 in 1999 that they created the song Leb 'die Sekunde ("Live the second") as well as the song Schrei so laut du kannst ("Shout to high how you can"). The duo was then called “Black Question Mark”.

Style At a very young age, Bill develops an attraction to tattoos and piercings, which continues to multiply over the years. At age 11, he got his first piercing on his right eyebrow and later on his tongue when he was 14. He also tattooed the logo of his band Tokio Hotel on the back of his neck without his parents' consent. He later got a star tattoo on his right groin. On his 18th birthday, he gets a tattoo of “Freiheit 89” which means “freedom 89” in German, 89 being the year of his birth and his 18th birthday meaning great freedom. Then, in December 2008, the singer revealed his new tattoo. This represents inscriptions in German across the left part of his ribs. Two phrases make up this tattoo. "Wir hören nie auf zu schreien" which means in French "We will never stop shouting" and "Wir kehren zum Ursprung zurück" which means "We are returning to the origins".

From an early age, Bill switched to a very androgynous style. Between 2005 and 2010, he was particularly recognized thanks to his tight-fitting clothes, his long black hair dotted with white streaks and his eyes always made in black. He has repeatedly stated in interviews that the idea for this look originated from his vampire costume at a Halloween party that he particularly liked. He also cites David Bowie, in the film Labyrinth, as a source of influence. His appearance is slim. Unlike his twin brother who hides his body behind very loose clothes, Bill always dresses close to his body and reveals a very thin body. Bill is 1.85 tall and accentuates this height by wearing heels.
