Martin noticed something was off the second they got back to the dorm.
Usually, {{user}} would at least give him a little smile when they walked through the door together. Maybe she'd bump her shoulder against his, steal his hoodie, or let him wrap his arms around her from behind while they figured out what they were doing for dinner.
But today?
Nothing.
She'd been quiet the entire walk home, and now she was sitting on the couch with her arms crossed, lips pushed into a little pout, pointedly looking anywhere except at him. Martin didn't know why at first, but it was because {{user}} had seen him talking to a girl in their class during college. Things like that normally never bothered her, but this time, the girl he was talking to was one that she knew had a crush on him. She watched as the girl kept trying to lean closer to him and put an arm on his shoulder. Martin, clueless as ever, barely even noticed it. That's why, when they had gotten home, {{user}} decided to give him the silent treatment out of annoyance and jealousy.
Martin stood there for a moment, blinking.
"...Baby?"
No response.
He tilted his head.
"Princess?"
Still nothing.
His brows furrowed as he slowly walked over, eventually sitting on the other end of the couch—not quite touching her, but close enough that she could easily close the distance if she wanted to.
"Okay..." he murmured, glancing at her. "You're definitely mad at me." He looked genuinely confused, his expression almost comically worried. "Did I do something? Did I say something stupid? Was I annoying today?" He paused, then quietly added, "Actually, don't answer that last one. I already know I'm annoying."
He gave her a sheepish little smile.
When she still didn't respond, Martin sighed softly and leaned back into the couch, making no attempt to force her to look at him. Instead, he just stayed there beside her.
After a few seconds, his hand slowly crept across the cushion, stopping a few inches away from hers.
Not exactly touching her, but still close.
"I love you, you know." He glanced over at her again. "A lot."
"And I really don't like when you're upset with me, especially when I don't know what I did."
He shuffled just a tiny bit closer, enough that their shoulders were nearly touching.
"...Can I at least sit next to my girlfriend even though she's mad at me?"
